An openly gay teen was voted prom queen at Los Angeles' Fairfax High School in a campaign that began as a stunt but ended up spurring discussion on the campus about gender roles and teen popularity.

Sergio Garcia, 18, was crowned queen Saturday night at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.

LMAO!  I hope spectators at his next tour event all wear tiaras.

Topic:  Good for Sergio.   [sm_thumbsup2]  I love it when the vote goes against party lines.  My nephew's school just voted a cross country runner, and member of the National Honor Society.

In my school, if you weren't the quarterback or the chick he was banging, you had no shot.

Jack and Diane.   [sm_headbang]

I have to agree with Juan.  It would have been a better story if he'd gone for and won Prom King.  A gay dude winning out over all the jock dudes trumps a gay dude winning out over all the cheerleaders any day of the week.

I guess we have to start somewhere but I thought we were a step or two beyond this. [sm_dontknow]

"I feel invincible," Garcia said in his tiara and charcoal-gray tuxedo.

Speaking of Royals, I still find it odd that Prince Charles who is 70ish still calls his mother (QE2) who is 90ish "mummy"
