Title: Laptops
Post by: Spanky on February 17, 2007, 06:28:14 PM
Starting to look at laptops. Of those that have them, what features are a necessity, what are ok to have and what are a waste of time? Let me know your experiences.

I'm tempted to recommend really, really long cables, but it's not my speed.

When I was shopping for laptops, the internals all seemed pretty comparable and more than adequate for my needs (surfing, email, movies, no games).

It ultimately came down to overall size, screen size/shape, keyboard layout and mushiness, and price.

i'm not 100% pro dell , but for the budget, and the ability to buy the 'total care' addon coverage (spill a drink on it and they have to fix it etc)  i tend to favor them for laptops

I am leaning towards Dell partially because of that but also because I have a discount through them.

I love the crazy dell discount codes. I'm typing on a dell 600m laptop right now bought after monitoring the following links for a good deal:

I thought if cables didn't work, formatting was the next best option?

rofl!  [sm_rolling]  I don't think any of us ever claimed to be heart specialists, though.  Just computer specialists - and between all of us here, I think we can get the job done right (the computer running better than ever).   ;D

If you plan to do anything graphically intensive, be sure to get one with a real graphics card not an on board intel one.
