First I'll make two disclaimers, one I'm not defending Lito Sheppard, he had as many good games as bad (although he did make some high profile big plays, and he missed 4 games due to injury). Two, stats can be very deceiving. With that out of the way, looking at those stats I have to wonder if it's a good thing that Winfield has so many tackles. It seems to me that when a corner is tackling that many guys he must have a lot of guys near him who are catching A LOT of balls. They must be throwing at him 7+ times a game. To me those stats are more likely to be showing that teams don't throw to Sheppard's guy nearly as often, and when they do they're more likely to have it defended or intercepted. The better the corner the less action he sees. That's pretty much a fact.
