Golf / Golf Talk / Re: First full round since the boy was born

A couple of weeks ago I played in my work's charity golf tournament/ scramble. My team posted a tie for 2nd place at 59 (13 under) at Valley View Golf Course in Layton, Utah. (Usice Beatha (pour some out) would know that course well. If he were still here I'd brag about eagling number 9, though only my drive counted in the mix in that one.)
I sank a couple of pretty decent putts, only contributed one drive to the mix, and hit the sand shot of my life (plus the putt) after complaining about not wanting to hit out of the sand. All in all, a descent round of golf. Maybe I'll play again before this time next year.

Yeah, I've been part of class action suits before and pretty much without fail I get the letter that says "per [xyz] federal law, if your settlement is determined to be less than $10, we don't have to give you a check." Or something like that. Anyway, $50 isn't going to pay the mortgage or anything, but 50 bucks is 50 bucks.

Anyone remember this thing? I had forgotten about it. Until a check arrived today for $50.53. Looks like my next tank of gas is courtesy of Big Diamond.

I don't suspect I have to tell any of you how hard it is to get out on the links when you have newborns/babies/toddlers at home. Especially when you're trying to convince your wife that she should stay home with them while you go play golf for 5 hours.
Anyway, my brother made a simple request to me: for his 40th birthday he'd like to get me, my other brother, him, and my dad together for a round of golf. For old time's sake. How could I say no?
Long story short: it was horrible. But not as bad as it could have been. I ended up Xing out three holes. But otherwise put together a pretty solid round. I even parred three holes, though to be fair all of them were one-putts. Mix in a few bogeys, a few more doubles... and, well, three holes that must not be mentioned, and I felt reasonably good about my game. You know, after not even swinging a club for two years. Especially on one of the tougher mountain courses Utah has to offer.
