I would like to welcome any newcomers who discover this place by the door being left open over at the "other place," however I'd also like to offer a caveat. This is a friendly forum. If you come out of bad blood created "over there" and are simply here to stir the pot, feel free to find yourself the door out.

If you're prone to bitching about chess threads on a golf forum, cryptic thread titles that contain random links with no explanation, or anything else like that, there's a place you can go where your complaining will get results.

If you come in peace and wish to be a friendly contributer, by all means welcome.

My comments weren't specifically directed towards you. Speaking for myself, I'm perfectly happy for you to stick around. I've personally never had any problem with you, and have frequently enjoyed your posts. I always assumed the verbal sparring between you and Aske was mostly tongue in cheek and that underneath it all you guys were really okay with each other (perhaps I was wrong  [sm_dontknow]).

My real worry is that with a direct link posted in the Clubhouse at FGI (a site which arguably holds more bad will than good for our good friend Aske) that there are those who will come here with solely ill intent. We don't need that.

Do you have the "Leave words uncensored" option unchecked in your Profile Look and Layout Preferences? To enable the filter you must have this box unchecked.

I'm back.  I need to go back and reread everything, but at least the site is still up.  I was worried.

But first, I need to do something I should have done last night.  Since I'm going to be busy in the next couple of days and might miss stretches of time on here, I need to anoint a crapload of people as moderators during these crazy times.

Ok, I just deputized a bunch of people as mods, starting at the top of the list of most prolific posters.  If I left anyone out that feels slighted, let me know.  I don't have a lot of time before I have to go again.

I'm actually not a moderator, so I don't know exactly what it does, but feel free to moderate the crap out of everyone including each other.

Don't forget.  Absolute power corrupts absolutely, but moderator powers corrupt moderately.

If chaos erupts as a result, no big deal, we can always scuttle the ship and start over again.  Domain names are cheap.

I haven't put a lot of effort into the language filter, I think there are only 4 words currently filtered.  What words made it through that shouldn't have?

If you want, you can be in charge of the language filter.  Just give me a list of words to filter and what you'd like them to be replaced with.

They don't even have to be offfensive words.  For example, we could make it so that every time someone types in "windows", it shows up to people as "freakin' windows" automatically.   ;D  Or we could make it so that if someone types "Go Vikings" or "Ditto", it's automatically replaced with "Fu** the Vikings" or "Blow me", so profanities would actually be inserted where there weren't any. ;)
