Title: Re: Google Chrome Post by: Uisce Beatha on September 05, 2008, 03:00:22 AM I'm excited about it. Competition is a good thing. It's WebKit based so it should be a solid as Safari as far as validating is concerned. Yet I like the differences it has to offer.
It'll hurt Firefox more than IE. People still using IE are resisting (or don't care about) upgrading their browser anyway. People using Firefox are open to trying new things. (Generalization, of course) Title: Re: Google Chrome Post by: spacey on September 05, 2008, 08:50:28 AM My car gets 40 rods to the hogshead, and so forth.

Title: Re: Google Chrome Post by: E-A-G-L-E! on September 05, 2008, 09:36:19 AM Not yet, but it'd be great if it could improve enough to beat out opera as our backup browser.

[sm_shock] :D Title: Re: Google Chrome Post by: Spanky on September 05, 2008, 10:20:33 AM Trying it out now. Seems ok. Will need to play with it more at home.
Title: Re: Google Chrome Post by: Spanky on September 05, 2008, 10:25:10 AM Interesting that it doesn't allow you to use Chat in Gmail.
Sucks. Title: Re: Google Chrome Post by: Torpedo on September 05, 2008, 10:53:48 AM Not yet, but it'd be great if it could improve enough to beat out opera as our backup browser. Opera has been demoted to 3rd string for a while now. The current depth chart is: Firefox 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) K-Meleon 8) 8) 8) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v111/Black_Cobra/Golfhos/HalfCool.png) Opera - Chrome 8) 8) IE [sm_disgust] You would know that if you ever paid attention. :D As far as Chrome: Not enough options to configure. I hate defaults. No about:config to tweak to death. No extensions. Firefox's speed is still superior. I understand the security feature by having every tab use it's own process, but averaging 1MB to 45+MB (although the process priority is set down to "below normal" on the least used ones) *per* tab, with normally 20+ tabs open = RAM Hog. Too simple of a UI. :) And leave it to google to add a update process on your system start-up for a browser. ;) But it *is* a beta so lots of things will obviously change.
