pittsburgh :

balance of various ethnic foods and low crime
no kwame

detroit:
brdymaker
lions
red wings
high crime
kwame
oh , and it's detroit

edge: pittsburgh in all categories except maybe the hockey team (and that's only true for past glory  [sm_devil] )

As I've never been to either city, I've no clue which is preferable.

Any city that needs this bloke, is in serious trouble. I'd pick the other city...

The only time I've ever been to Detroit was to catch a connecting flight to Columbus. Go figure.

Detroit is hockey town, so it's got that going for them.  Pittsburgh seems like a nice friendly city though.

Never been to either although in my travels I've been close to both of them.  Drove through Michigan coming back from Canada and also visited a friend in the Cranberry (western PA) area but didn't have time to go to the burgh.  I'd say Detroit is the suckiest from what I've seen on TV and Movies.
