Title: you can't make this shiiiiaaaat up.
Post by: Aske on May 14, 2008, 12:12:11 PM
went to convenience store (rite aid  iirc) to grab a bottle of diet pepsi

customer in front of me buys cigs (and mouthwash LOL, not the main point)
- cashier asks for birthday
- customer says "1965"
- cashier says "i need the whole thing"
- customer says "1965"
- cashier says "i need the whole thing, month, and date"
- customer says "january 1st"
- cashier says " ok " (without asking for ID, althrough the lady did look 40+)
cashier in process of ringing up, customer starts looking at stuff behind cashier on wall
- customer says "can you tell me about that mp3 player"
- cashier says "dammit, you gotta wait a minute while i make you change "
{cashier puts change back in drawer and starts counting it out again}
- customer says "why? "
- cashier says  nothing
{handing change back to customer}
- customer says "now what can you tell me about this mp3 player "
- cashier says "which one? "
{there's only one on the wall I can see, a no name 1GB model}
- customer says "that one " {pointing at it stretched all the way over the counter}
- cashier says "what do you want to know "
- customer says "well, how much is it? "
- cashier says "it's normally $59, but it's $20 off now so it's $29  "
- customer says "i'll have to pass, that's too much "
- cashier says "that doesnt seem much to me, how much are mp3 players, 1GB holds a lot of songs "
- customer says "no thanks, bye "
{cashier attempts to continue probing information from me (resisting to talk) and customer behind me (who obliges), still stuck on $29 too, btw}
- cashier says "so what do they go for, is $29 too much, i thought $59 was a good deal "
- customer says "well, it depends "
- cashier says "on like how much they hold?  isn't 1 GB a lot? "
- customer says "yes, mainly on how much they hold, and you can get a better deal than that "
- cashier says "yeh, but 1GB is a lot, that's like 600 songs right, that's for $29 "
- customer says "no, more like 100 songs"
- cashier "wow, that is a ripoff"

After the first few lines I figured this was another Aske channeling an old woman thread.

Pleasantly surprised.

You should have bought the mp3 player for $29.

You need to just stop going to stores. You can buy everything over the internet now so you really have no excuse.
