Title: What Would Adolphus Say?
Post by: stroh on July 14, 2008, 10:39:14 AM
Anheuser-Busch (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/25663923) sold.

Better not start tastin' like Beck's.

Which reminds of a joke:

Maggie the prostitute walks into the pub after a long nights work.  Michael calls out from behind the bar  "Welcome Maggie!  How was your night love?"  Maggie responds "Oh, 'twas a tough day, I'm really in need of a beer."  "Anheuser-Busch?" He says.  "Oh, 'tis fine Michael, and how's your pecker?"

That does look good.

However, beer is not supposed to be carefully handcrafted and brewed to.........bull*feces*.

Beer is to be produced and consumed in mass quantities easily.  Like this:

InBev acquiring Anheuser-Busch for $52 billion

The companies will, however, sell off “noncore assets” that they would not name to raise some $7 billion to finance the deal. InBev will also borrow $45 billion and plans to issue new shares to raise another $9.8 billion.
My math must be rusty.

I was just up in StL on chautauqua and I must say, that town is about to commit hare kare over this.

Which cracks me up.

They just don't see the good times a coming their way. Because what is really going on here is the first opportunity since just about when Lewis and Clark were stocking provisions to have a little fun tasting real beers.

You see, there are all sorts of great beers out there in the world--none of which can be found within 150 miles of the Soulard district, that beer lovers in the Home of the King of Beers will have never discovered because of their homie loyalism, which is both the most endearing quality and critical flaw of these people.

Here comes inbev to the rescue but St Louisians just aren't going to get behind a crazy brazilian with a stanford mba pushing the same frigging tasteless european lagers they've been loyally chugging only because it was the right thing to do to get behind the self-made Solardian Adolphus and the 4 generations of self made trust fund babies who've followed in his footsteps.

They'll see this as an opportunity to be free from the bonds of loyalty that have shackled them to what can only be considered the most horribly mediocre beers sold in the word except for maybe all the other hopelessly over-hyped crap that InBev pushes on the masses.

I'm looking forward to the Great Renaissance and am now officially bullish on StLouis microbreweries and looking for said investment opportunities.

That's fine with me as long as I can still get Beck's.  I have no desire to drink Budweiser.

They're probably taking this opportunity to acquire more operating cash to cover the additional expenses that come with taking over a company before the acquisition truly becomes accretive to earnings. After this huge acquisition, InBev is probably left with lint in its pockets.

Also, whenever you issue more shares or take over another company, your stock usually takes a hit. Might as well take the hit all at once instead of on two separate occasions.
