Quote
The editorial board of Louisville's Courier-Journal didn't mince words following its sit-down with Rand Paul last month. Much of what the Republican Senate candidate supports, it wrote, "is repulsive to people in the mainstream," including "an unacceptable view of civil rights."

And yet Paul's view that the federal government should not have the power to force integregation on private businesses — part of 1964's landmark Civil Rights Act — didn't get the attention of the national press until Wednesday, following interviews with NPR's Robert Siegel and MSNBC's Rachel Maddow. (Watch the exchange with Maddow below. Paul subsequently changed his position Thursday, after an intense 24 hours of media fallout.)

What an idiot.

I heard today what he says his point is.

He's completely ignoring everything else that piece of legislation did.

It's a perfectly consistent libertarian viewpoint, and I actually respect him and his father for being semi-consistent with it.

The Gubment should not have the power to tell private entities who they can and cannot hire, serve, etc, etc.

It's not very realistic.

That aside: This was no secret to anyone that was actually paying attention to anything he or his father actually says.

Yep.  You said word for word what the (AM talk radio guy from back home I like to listen to) said on it.
And his point like yours is "Not realistic, so where do you really go with it from here?"

I'm not tuned in to much, but to the point of your thread, I agree this was not news to anybody.
