I'd love to have been at the staff meeting where the Studio Execs pulled this one off of the top 10 and proposed it: Exec:'I think we'll have Debbie do 'If I Had A Hammer' this week. Nice song, fits well with the voice. We'll use the choreography from 2 weeks ago. Should be great, the kids will love it'. Director: 'Umm, yeah. It's a terrific song, and Debbie can certainly do it quite well, but wouldn't something a little more understated than that be more appropriate? Debbie onstage with a trio and static mike could be very, very nice. We'll do something with the lights to keep it visual' Exec: 'Dancing. There WILL BE DANCING! Got it?'
