Title: Trump vs. Golf Digest
Post by: dystopia on March 29, 2007, 12:31:29 PM
I'm not a Donald Trump fan, but I'm not a Golf Digest fan either, so I find this spat comical.

TRUMP TEES OFF AT GOLF DIGEST

Quote
"Bair came to my office and told me the only way I'll get the ratings I deserve was if I advertised. I said, 'No thanks' and sent him on his way," Trump recalled. "Can you believe it? The magazine had already told me that I have built the best new courses in this country in years - but then they say I have to advertise to make it in? It's unbelievable." Trump said Golf Digest honchos have also been down on him because he featured the editors of rival Golf Magazine in episodes of "The Apprentice."

I'm with you dys.

Golf Digest pimps gear, courses, vacations, tips, everything based on advertising revenue.  Which would be fine it there was a nice disclosure in every issue.  How can components NEVER be considered in the top 25 of any category year after year?  Well... they don't pay for it.  Simple as that.

Trump's golf courses.  Trademark billion dollar waterfall on every course no matter what the land presents.  What more can you say?  Tom Doak is the king of minimalist design.  Donald Trump is the king of maximilist resort golf.  A pox on the Donald.

I had a similar reaction. To me the real question is how did one of his courses ever get on the list to begin with? That course they used for the Big Break in Los Angeles was one of the most hideously penal courses I've ever seen. I can't imagine flopping down $40 to play it much less $400 or whatever he charges.
