Title: Audio Tech Question Post by: stegerman on March 23, 2007, 12:15:07 PM I'm relatively tech savvy, but I'm not even sure what to call what I am looking for. Is there a device that has a USB input (for my thumbdrive) that will play the mp3 files? Specfically I am looking for a way to listen to audiobooks I have downloaded onto my thumbdrive without going through the whole iTunes to IPod transfer process. Also, I don't want to burn cd's for this because it typically takes several and I don't usually want to keep them around after I'm done listening?
Anyone...Anyone? Title: Re: Audio Tech Question Post by: dystopia on March 23, 2007, 12:45:37 PM Hmm, that's tricky. I'm not familiar with any devices that would allow you to plugin your existing thumbdrive and play audio from there. (except a laptop)
There are several products that will replace your thumbdrive and are also audio players: http://www.audio-discounters.com/th101.html http://www.jr.com/JRProductPage.process?Product=4056810&JRSource=nsa&nsa=1 Unless you're talking about listening in your car, and there are some devices that will transmit the mp3s to an fm car radio: http://www.amazon.com/RCA-T1500-MP3-Thumbdrive-Players/dp/B000FCR3ZS http://sewelldirect.com/car-usb-FM-transmitter.asp http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2707967 Where will you do most of your listening? at a desk, running/gym? driving? This device accepts a USB drive, but looks huge: http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=457 If you mainly want to listen at your desk, maybe just use your computer and run everything off the thumbdrive. http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleid=1676&page=10 Title: Re: Audio Tech Question Post by: stegerman on March 23, 2007, 01:30:51 PM Thanks guys. I'm looking for something for in the car. The FM transmitter is interesting, but I tried one for my iPod and ended up taking it back because the recpetion stunk. I'll keep looking.
