Title: Golfhos Utah Libtard Meetup
Post by: Aske on November 07, 2007, 09:30:05 PM
 [sm_drinking] [sm_beertoast] [sm_fingersx]

operation was successful.

met up with  Uisce and Spacey tonight and shared in some dinner and drinks.   both do their fair share to counterbalance the  'utah vibes'.  conversations ranged from  local politics to football to work to you name it .   all in all, one thing was agreed on: stroh and his vikings are pansies.  [sm_devil]  j/k

but seriously, thanks for taking time out of your days guys [sm_beertoast].  it was a pleasure, and I'd be happy to do it again someday.  hopefully I at least somewhat retained my lean mean forum image in real life.  [sm_devil]

i had 4 rum and diets, and i must say, despite their slightly weaker than usual taste, I am feeling a decent little buzz come on ...

Don't worry Aske, I'll never spoil your online persona by telling anyone that you're actually quite pleasant in person.  ;) I agree, successful operations, the vikings are pansies, and Utah rum and cokes are weak.

 [sm_buddies]

p.s.- sorry Jules, no one remembered to bring a camera so once again, no pics.

Enjoy our fair city Doc.  In all its quirky glory.

I wore my standard fall uniform.  Long sleeved shirt, shorts and flip-flops.  My wife asked me as I walked out the door, "you're going dressed like that?"

I said, "I'm meeting doods.  WTF?"   ;)

Well lord know I'm the biggest computer idiot here, but I remember hearing some quote about ends justifying the means.  I think it applies.

'Course, there's always Plug-N-Play models. [sm_naughty]

Just buy an I-mac.  They have built in cameras for video chatting.  Of course you'll need broadband to keep up.

Is an I-mac a whole new computer, or something that you add to your existing computer!

See stroh's pic.  I have one and it is awesome.  You can literally take it out of the box, plug it in and be video chatting in a matter of seconds.  Unfortunately I know nobody with one to chat with so I've never used the feature.

Well, getting back on topic, it depends.  Here in Utah, if there's penetration it's a class-B felony.  If she's the 14 year old daughter of your third cousin and you already have two wives you're home free.  The D.A. won't touch it.  If it's just rubbing your bits together through clothing it's only a mortal sin and absolution is only a large building fund donation away.

Ah, but the true irony is that we're one of the reddest of the Red States. Our version of conservatism, however, allows for the state to pass legislation to protect people from themselves if it happens to mesh with popular interpretation of moral standards. Up might also be down here, but I have insufficient evidence to support such a claim.

.......So who cares if they're socialists? They could be fascist anarchists. It still doesn't change the fact that I don't own a car. Not that I condone fascism, or any -ism for that matter. -Ism's in my opinion are not good. A person should not believe in an -ism, he should believe in himself. I quote John Lennon, "I don't believe in The Beatles, I just believe in me." Good point there. After all, he was the walrus. I could be the walrus. I'd still have to bum rides off people.

Add this: A friend of mine used to run at Bonneville every year. One year they were pitted in a section where things would look like they were rolling uphill because of the tilt of the lake bed. I put it down to a lifetime of sniffing methanol fumes, but now that you said that, I have to wonder...

Add this: A friend of mine used to run at Bonneville every year. One year they were pitted in a section where things would look like they were rolling uphill because of the tilt of the lake bed. I put it down to a lifetime of sniffing methanol fumes, but now that you said that, I have to wonder...

All jokes aside (as I don't want to trivialize this) here's a description of how a friend of mine died four years ago next Tuesday.

That's a lunar landscape out there.  It's weird chit.  We have pictures of the cross planted out there with those few inches of water still on the lake bed.  You literally can't tell which way is up.

I can only imagine what a couple of square miles of almost perfectly flat lake bed looks like with a couple of inches of water on it.

I've driven by it (and the other one where they actually race now, which I believe is in Nevada) and a few hundred yards up one of the access roads, and it is indeed spooky.

He said it was the damndest thing you'd ever seen: You'd put a tire down, and it would just start rolling very slowly, and it looked like it was going uphill. They tried to tape it, but it didn't come across.
