Title: Not a good day so far
Post by: APTech on February 01, 2009, 08:08:37 AM
I was playing TW09 on the Wii and my Mitsubishi projection tv decided that today was a good day to die.  :sad3: It is nearly 9 years old, so I figured it was probably running on borrowed time as it is.  It started to act up 2 weeks ago, but I was able to resolve the problem by adjusting the convergence.  Not today though, can't get the red or blue to converge.  It looks like I'll be going to Circuit City to find a replacement.  I guess part of my refund will be used to stimulate the economy.

Tough break about the TV, but I have a question.  How is TW09 on the Wii?  I've heard it's pretty good but the putting isn't great.  What's your opinion?

The putting took a bit of play to get used to.  It is more like the Xbox version where you are able to adjust the max distance for the putting meter.  I'm now rolling putts in on a more consistent basis.  Averaging about 1.8 per green.

On to the tv saga.  Before leaving, I turned it on and all was well.  Hopefully it will last a week or two longer.  Circuit City prices were at 25% off, and am seriously considering another rear projection model.  I'm hoping that they drop a bit more.  With a new tv, I'll need to get a tv stand as well.  The old Mitsu is a self contained behemoth.

Word of warning.  Make sure you have a very good idea of what the TV is selling for elsewhere.  25% off of an inflated number may not be such a great deal.  Liquidators are notorious for marking up prices.  Found this out at Linens & Things when my wifebought a 50.00 picture frame at 60% off.  When I peeled off the sticker, the original L&T price was there at 17.95!

I bought a Samsung HL61A750 DLP/LED rear projection for $100 less than Best Buy's sale price.  Cnet rates it as one of the top budget priced HDTV units.  No lamps to replace, LED is supposed to give it 60,000 hours of service.
