Title: [ramble]Drinks[/ramble]
Post by: Uisce Beatha on July 24, 2008, 06:38:45 PM
Not a rant.  I've given up anger.  'Cept righteous anger of course but that's for special occasions like Halloween.

Grew up in a culture which has never heard of a free refill.  That kinda blows.  I don't like that.  'Merkinized prolly.

So you order an iced tea, drink one glass and switch to coffee for desert.  Two drink charges.  Yes/no where you live?

Guy over yonder orders a Coke and schlunks down 17 refills.  Pays half what you do.   ???

What would be the perfect price point on all you can drink beer?  You know half the he-men would pony up and pay something like $0.80 per ounce before they crawled home.  There'd be a stroh or two but they'd be your statistical anomalies.

I say they'd clean up at $30 for cheap beer and $40 for premium/imports (draft of course).  Every swinging *8==>* under 30 would pay it.

Who here buys pitchers?  I get the bargain concept but if Brendan Behan got his by the pint so shall I.  Are you a last 1.5" of the pitcher guy or do you leave it for *bunghole* to the left.

Hefeweizen anyone?  If God would have wanted beer made from wheat he would have put the Vatican in Nebraska.  And wtf is with those slices of orange/lemon?  Fruit in my drinks is for Hawaii and Cabo only.  Pineapple.  I love pineapple.

Beer quality is directly proportional to northerly latitude.  Don't believe me?  Map it.

Why do people think stout is thick/heavy/like milk?  I blame that microbrew Oatmeal stout *feces*e.  Malt your barley please.  I don't want five lbs. of sugar in my beer.   [sm_disgust]

I have more.  Maybe page 2.

Whatever, you can spend your $30 or $40 on beer. Give me a couple of martinis and I'm fine, $10 max.

*fudge* you and your extra stout!

BTW: first round is on me.

P.S. I have started to like beer but I equate it to the old saying. "Wine is divine but liquor is quicker"

Your thread title is wrong; should be: [drinks]Ramble[drinks]

What would be the perfect price point on all you can drink beer?
Including or excluding the astounding increase in dram-shop liability insurance?

Two years ago I got all bold with the fancy Jameson I'd never heard of.  About halfway through the hot toddy I noticed the $400 glass of Hennessy advertised just to my left and about shat myself.  I was never so happy to pay $16 for a drink in my life.

i saw the funniest thing in my local pub the other day.

guy trying to mack on 3 girls only has like $8 on him (no cc's i guess) buys 2 bottles of bud light, divides it into 3 cups and hands it out to them.  LMAO

So you order an iced tea, drink one glass and switch to coffee for desert.  Two drink charges.  Yes/no where you live?  Yes.

Guy over yonder orders a Coke and schlunks down 17 refills.  Pays half what you do.   ???  Pisses me off. See above.

Agreed - may be tempted to go down to $20-$30.  $30 would depend on what your "premium/import selection is.

Who here buys pitchers?  I get the bargain concept but if Brendan Behan got his by the pint so shall I.  Are you a last 1.5" of the pitcher guy or do you leave it for *bunghole* to the left.  Not since I've "grown up". But this is a good point. I just don't see a lot of pitcher buying going on at all anymore. Used to be much more common, especially with the younger crowd IMO.

Hefeweizen anyone?  If God would have wanted beer made from wheat he would have put the Vatican in Nebraska.  And wtf is with those slices of orange/lemon?  Fruit in my drinks is for Hawaii and Cabo only.  Pineapple.  I love pineapple. mmmmmmmmm....yes. Widmer in Portland OR. And I've been known to have a few Leinenkuegel Honey Weiss. But I don't get the fruit part either.

Beer quality is directly proportional to northerly latitude.  Don't believe me?  Map it.  As the kids say...Werd.

Why do people think stout is thick/heavy/like milk?  I blame that microbrew Oatmeal stout *feces*e.  Malt your barley please.  I don't want five lbs. of sugar in my beer.   [sm_disgust]  see above

I always buy pitchers when the option is available. That's all I really have to add.

Beer=good
pitchers=good
refills apply on same beverage, I get that.

Places that offer pitchers generally kick ass and you are bound to have fun.  In Norman this cheapo dancehall sells pitchers for ridiculously cheap.  OMG is that place awesome.  Also, a haven for 18-20 year old girls with fake id's.  Good times in college.

I love a good stout but hate a good IPA.

That is all.

btw, pitchers outsell bottles about 2.5-1 at the local place i go.

I stopped ordering pitchers when tall beers came into vouge.  23oz.  Perfect.

Applebee's Brewtus FTW!

Rubes.  Uisce's getting your take on "pitchers" before the Bandon trip?  Wake up.
