most.boring.movie.evar. Cool lego model, though. Almost as good as this one from this morning's Salt Lake Tribune: http://extras.mnginteractive.com/live/media/site297/2008/0313/20080313_032943_stpatsdrink.pdf
(Looks like kind of a sausage fest though.)

I almost agree.  If it wasn't for Eyes Wide Shut it would be #1.  Kubrick blows.  He appears about five times in my Top Ten *feces* Movies list.

I suspect a doppleganger did Full Metal Jacket.

At least Eyes Wide Shut had copious gratuitous nudity in it. Beats the hell out of watching a guy run on a gigantic hamster wheel for like 10 straight minutes.

Cool model of a ship in a movie that sucked donkey balls.

Kubrick blows.

He did a couple of "just OK" films, didn't he?

I think a few people think this one doesn't suck either.

A Clockwork Orange is on that top ten list.  Watched it twice to be sure and it blew worse the second time.

The Shining rules.  Forgot about that one.

Have to admit I've never seen Strangelove.  Almost... a dozen times maybe but I'm predisposed to think it's gonna suck.  ;)

But I respect your right to be wrong.   :D [sm_devil]

A Clockwork Orange- weird movie based on an even weirder novel. I liked both, but can definitely see how others might not.

The Shining- Used to love this movie. I think I've seen it too many times now. Last time I watched it (last October) I found it sort of boring.

Dr Strangelove- Brilliant Cold War satire. A bit dated but still a good romp.

meh.

Not as meh as soccer.

It boggles the mind to contemplate how meh would be a Kubrick film about soccer.   :redcard:

Disturbing Legos

Public Forum Letter
Article Last Updated: 03/17/2008 07:18:42 PM MDT

I am a mother of young boys who love, love, love Legos. When I saw the Lego illustration in the paper, I thought, "How fun. What is this about?" I cannot express my surprise - then concern - then shock - then sickened feeling, as I realized that the cute, innocent Lego people were depicting how to order alcoholic drinks, tip a bartender and do a "pre-group huddle" before entering a bar ("Don't let the crowds stop you - getting a drink on St. Pat's is easy," Tribune, March 14).

As a marketing angle, using Legos is an interesting tool to reach your target audience. Ages 21-35 would identify with Legos and would stop to read the little advice bubbles.

This half-page Lego portrayal of adult behavior is disturbing for parents of children because of underage drinking behaviors.

Children start to make decisions about drinking alcohol and participating in other adult behaviors between 8 and 12 years of age - the exact target age that the Lego company sells products to.

I am throwing out your paper today because of the thoughtlessness and danger The Tribune has placed my children in.

LMAO some more.

Agreed.  The Killing was also a great heist film.

I too think 2001 was meh and Eyes Wide Shut was alright.

What next? Flavored beer in the grocery store? Won't somebody please think of the children?

Incensed and outraged. That's what I am.

Think of the children

Public Forum Letter
Article Last Updated: 03/18/2008 06:23:21 PM MDT

I have a 7-year-old grandson living with me. As I opened The Tribune last Friday morning and saw the large Lego layout in "The Mix" section, my grandson was right at my elbow. "Read me what it says, Grandma," was his enthusiastic little voice in my ear. I was horrified to see that the Lego picture was all about how to get an alcoholic drink on St. Patrick's Day ("Don't let the crowds stop you - getting a drink on St. Pat's is easy," Tribune, March 14).

What in the world are you thinking? If you are going to discuss adult themes, don't use children's toys to do it. I was so taken aback that I was speechless - horrified, actually.

In the future, please think about the audience you are appealing to before you print something of that nature. We will have to get rid of that page of the paper before my grandson gets home from school so he won't try and read it himself.

I have always loved The Tribune, but this morning's edition was tasteless and unbelievably insensitive. Impressionable young people read the paper, too.

* Silly Git #2 *
Sandy

Silly Git #1 was surprised, concerned, shocked and sickened due to the thoughtlessness and danger The Tribune has placed her children in [ed: dpic].

Legogate baby!!
