Title: Here goes nothing... employment wise that is.....
Post by: PaunchyBald on September 18, 2007, 01:40:35 PM
"The company" have offered the following:

A 50% cut in commisions  (this is my bread and butter)  pun intended.

A 500% increase (over three years) in health care premiums.

Removal of all restrictions upon hours and days of work.

The right to hire permanent part time empolyees to place in whatever position they deem necessary, whenever they deem necessary.

The right to outsource any or all jobs as they deem necessary.

The union (evil parasites that they currently are) have broken off negotiations.

The company insists that this is the absolute minimun to emerge from bankruptcy.

The managment and many of the same board members that got us into this mess are still in place.  Only the CEO, CFO, and a few vice presidents have been changed.

If we (union employee's) don't work, the company will fail and will be sold piecemeal

All this goes before the bankruptcy judge Oct 5.  My only conundrum is, do I give notice before or after judgment?

If before, I believe that I am due accrued vacation and personal time at the current payscale.  If after?  Any body out there?  Bueller?   Bueller?  Bueller?

You might want to contact RCW through figs.  I think Rob is an employment practices attorney.  At least post there.  He usually weighs in on these types of topics.

Sorry lad, I don't go there anymore.  I should hope my profile has been deleted, per request, by now.

Oh, ouch.  Hope things work out for you.

[minor threadjack]

The company my dad works for just sold out to a nationwide (possibly worldwide?) corporation.  We've yet to find out what this could mean for current employees.  Previous employers haven't even formally acknowledge the sale and it's been over two weeks....

Don't know what to say. The company I used to work for downsized, in 2003, and requested I leave, one month after my 35 year service award was presented, along with three others of close to similar seniority and management stature. Six months later, they sold to a Jap firm that was their major competitor. For those who are still with the company: no pension, no 401K, health care that is rather expensive and pathetically poor.
Though I've moved on to a lesser paying job, I am collecting pension from them, driving 80 miles less per day to and from work, and working aobut 2/3 of the hours. I am rapidly closing in on 57 years old, and am happy for the decreased hours. I have downsized my life and am ok with my situation. For those younger, more might be needed.
Good Luck.

Gay marriage has been banned on the internets....for the sake of the children and the sanctity of nternets families, of course.

While I do appreciate such a compliment, there really isn't much we know about each other.  Of what I do know about you, I think it's pretty obvious that some of the things that are most important to me we'd be in complete disagreement on.  Thus, I feel I must decline your proposal.

Hairy feet could very well be a dominant trait though. You should ask the hirsute one (http://www.golfhos.com/profile-53.html) if the fruit of his loins is equally hairy.

*quietly* (the hair on my feet is glued on, as I don't have hairy feet either.  I was looking for a carrier to continue my ruse by passing it onto the offspring) *shhhhhh*
