I see what they're doing: Trying to ride the retro gravy train that the New Beetle and Mini did. There's one BIG problem: The Beetle and Mini were beloved in their time , where the Cinquecento was universally loathed by anyone who ever owned, rode, or even sat in one. Title: Re: It's here! (http://www.tuningmag.net/images/news/carzone_fiat_500_18012008/Fiat-500-NEW-vs-OLD.jpg) I'll bet I have more than one picture of them in a scrapbook somewhere. The basic problem was this: They pretty much started rusting the day they rolled out of the factory, and by the time one was even 5 or 6 years old it was a complete rustbucket. This wasn't helped the fact that the 'Weatherstripping' consisted of strips of wax covered cardboard (I'm not making that up') that wouldn't last through a Seattle spring. The ONLY good thing you could say about it was that it would generally run if the right curse words were used in combination to get it started. |
