Title: Heroes (spoiler)
Post by: spacey on October 16, 2006, 08:03:38 PM
So the cheerleader is a rapist killer and the politician's brother can only fly when his brother who can fly is around (I'm thinking he might start discovering other "powers" when other "supers" are in his proximity?).

Hiro is a time travelling samurai from the future?  :o

Holy *feces* this is getting good.

I think he's talking about Ali Larter's character- the Vegas stripper with the kid.

Oh, I thought that the politician's brother's ability was to take on the powers of anyone nearby, sort of like Rogue, but they aren't really his powers. [sm_dontknow]

This show has really mastered the art of leaving you saying "WTF?!! give me more!" with the last 5 minutes of each episode.

Ah, I wasn't sure.

So is the Vegas stripper's alter-ego her missing criminal husband?

Also the politician mentioned he was married, but he said she away for some reason I didn't catch.  Where was the wife during his speech?

Grrr, I need to pay more attention when I watch this show.

Title: Re: Heroes (spoiler)
Post by: spacey on October 17, 2006, 11:30:31 AM
I hadn't thought about the stripper's alt-ego, but it sorta makes sense. I wonder where they're going with it and if she'll end up being a good guy or bad guy. I'm actually having a hard time telling if any of them are good or bad or if it's a sliding scale.

I'm also wondering about the teaser re: saving the cheerleader in order to save the world.

I also missed the part about the politician's wife.

Title: Re: Heroes (spoiler)
Post by: dystopia on October 17, 2006, 12:56:42 PM
There were two clues that made me think the stripper's alter-ego was the missing husband.  It could be a stretch, but the way her son, the boy-genius, said that his father is "in a place where they'll never find him" had an ominous tone to it.

Also, in the elevator of the hotel after she roughs up the dude, the manner in which she said something like "don't mess with our son" made me think they were suggesting it was the father saying it.  Granted, using the word "our" would also have worked if it was just your everyday split personality, but that what I immediately thought of.

Oh yeah, also, when the stripper went to her mother-in-law, there was some sort of connection between some of the people she's finding dead and her missing husband.  As if he's getting revenge on former associates through her.

It could just be a red herring, though, as shows like this seem to enjoy keeping viewers guessing.

The teaser is very interesting, I have no theories about that, but I can't wait to see everyone converge in one place. [sm_eekdance]

Post by: worst_golfer_ever on October 17, 2006, 01:15:42 PM
The stripper found her husband's ring 'out in the deserts'.  I assume while she was burying the bodies.

I sort of figured that the husband was one of the older bodies that her alter-ego had buried (which would explain why she found his ring there), but the stripper and the boy didn't seem to think the husband was dead.

As for the Japanese guys -- did Hiro get knocked out by that same evil power-blocker guy, or was the shadowy figure someone else?

And, I agree about the politician's wife -- unless there's something weird going on, a politician's wife should have been at the speech, but we only saw the mom and the brother.  (Must be something weird going on  :)  :))

I thought Hiro was knocked out by the same guy just because Hiro wasn't able to stop time to block him, and he easily took Hiro down.

I vaguely remember the politician talking about mentioning his wife and something about his father's funeral at his speech, but I had thought his father died quite some time ago.  I might be imagining that.

I thought the guy that thwapped Hiro was just a henchmen of the guy that they cheated at cards.  (Pretty dumb taking/swapping his cards and letting his buddy play them as his own, hard not to notice).

I would have thought the 'powered' guy would just have stood there and laughed as Hiro looked like he was trying to pump up his head, unable to use his timestop thingy.  Hiro doesn't speak much English and he didn't know that his 'friend' had set him up for a smack with his superpower talk.  The rolled up nosepaper on the nose bad puppy thing came as a surprise to him.

They said the Petrelli dad had been gone for 6 months.

The women are vigilante death dealers, which is nice....

I was talking about Ali LArter, not the cheerleader.

This unfortunately is a great show and has me hooked. I try not to watch TV, but this is almost a must watch.

How about the travelling samerai from the future gig. Nice?

What do you think they meant by "Only take one" when those two guys were in the hotel room of the politician brother and the stripper?

Title: Re: Heroes (spoiler)
Post by: worst_golfer_ever on October 23, 2006, 03:22:45 PM
I heard "Only take the one", rather than "Only take one".  This could mean "Only take the one of those two with the super powers".

I'm wondering if Sylar knows that the stripper is a hero?  After all, she doesn't have any powers -- but her alter-ego sure does.   (And, we know from Sylar's map that he is already after the politician)

Of course, the sentence could just mean that Sylar wants to experiment on the politician, and can use the stripper later.  She seems like she could be manipulated into doing just about anything.

I'm pretty much assuming that 'the one' is the politician -- we'll see if I'm right tonight!   [sm_happy1]

Yeah, that dude's powers are really intriguing.  I'm curious to see what happens when he's in the presence of the Vegas stripper and her alter-ego thing.  Also, what happens if he (the younger Petrelli) is in the same room as all of the heroes?  Does he becomes some sort of uber-badass hero?

So, I realized that I've been assuming that the cheerleader's dad is Sylar, mostly because they play creepy music whenever he's onscreen, and he's done a couple of weird things.

But, Sylar kills people and steals their brains -- the cheerleader's dad doesn't seem to want to kill the heros.  He certainly had the chance to kill the cop and the politician, but didn't.

I really need to pay more attention when watching this show, which guy can walk through walls?

I finally hooked up our bigscreen tv in the new place and it was great to watch Heroes on a larger screen, but I haven't tweaked the tv for the new environment and I couldn't follow anything in the dark scenes. :(

OK, things are clearer (I think) with the couple in Vegas.  I thought she was going to kick hubby's ass, but that was a pretty cool move by him.

It's a tat that naughty Niki has but slightly less naughty Niki doesn't.  It's like a, erm, half double helix.  I think this may become the symbol of the new breed somewhere along the line, it's popped up a few times.  Evolving genes was hammered on a bit last night.

For someone who said she didn't like looking in mirrors she sure has enough of them (uncovered) around the house.....

I knew that good neighbor macoroni cheese making cow was up to no good.  She was far too cool when she ran the cockroach killing guy off at the beginning with his gun and then didn't skip a beat when she came into the room with her evil food dish and was looking down the wrong end of the same gun.  She went visiting Isaac (Is his surname Hunt?) at the end, I didn't see the cheesy food item there though.

Ah, thanks.  So that's what Niki's tattoo is.  You're right, it does look like it will become some sort of symbol for them.  I wonder if they'll end up in uniforms.(most likely)

Oh yeah, mac & cheese woman was really calm during those skirmishes. Damn, I should have caught that.

I'm enjoying seeing the characters flushed out more. [fleshed out? -ed.]  Now I think I'm the most curious about the bespectacled father of the cheerleader and the boy genius son of Niki, and what powers, if any, they possess.

I don't think cheerleader dad has any powers of his own, though I haven't quite yet pinned down his MO or motivations. I think boy genius son does have powers, but likely he doesn't know about them yet. I can't honestly imagine how Niki will end up being a good guy, I wonder if she doesn't end up working for Sylar. Niki's husband seems like he's probably a decent guy who ended up in a bad situation. My guess is that he and boy genius son end up as a team.

On another TV viewing note, Studio 60 is also gaining intellectual momentum. I'm sure it won't last the whole season either.

Good episode last night.  I liked it better than the previous week's, except there was no really good cliffhanger last night.

The new character, burning-hands guy is pretty strange, I don't know what to make of him.  At this point, I'm not sure I want to see any more new characters if it means leaving ignoring some others for an entire episode (Professor guy, mac&cheese woman, and Isaac)

Great scene with DL and Hiro at the accident in the desert.

Only one question from me this week:  So I think the politician's wife in the wheelchair is from a relatively recent car accident.  He talked about feeling guilty looking at her, so was he the one driving?   Did they say if he was driving drunk?  Maybe not, since a drunk driving accident would probably kill his campaign. (unless it was covered up)

Apparently Mica can communicate over inoperable telephone lines? Telekinetic maybe?

Also, I'm wondering if the "Save the Cheerleader, Save the World" is just a story arc as in a comic book, and we'll see many story arcs throughout the season/ series. Could be lots of directions they could go with the characters they have, and perhaps adding/losing characters all the time as is necessary/ appropriate for the story arc.

Also, I was glad to see Studio 60 back on. Maybe my info about it being canceled was premature or incorrect.

didn't say if he was drunk driving or not, but that he WAS driving.

micah's power seems far more electronics related than necessarily telekinesis.

radioactive man will be interesting, and  the episode in 3 weeks will probably (hopefully!  clear a lot up an set the transition from what we have now to actually forming some sort of 'hero' plot.

I just watched it, cheers.

 [sm_beertoast]

The guy was driving (as Burz said), the reporter guy said so at family brunch, asked her if she was angry at her husband, he was driving etc.

I think the kid just fixes stuff, early episode on he was making all kinds of electronic stuff.  He knows how it works and can control it to do what he wants.  I think he has known about what his parents (can) do for a fairly long time, so I don't get him.  His backstory needs fleshing out.

That Vegas mobster guy seems to be 'extra lucky' in being connected in ways to the heroes.  The brothers, crazy white chick (that he got to shag the guy) and her family, Hiro in the casino and he bought the 'missing' Isaac painting?  More to come, because it's not making sense now.

Reading minds guy is a bit limp.  At least now maybe he can get on with his new role/life.

Geiger man just seemed to be a crappy red herring, stuff we had no knowledge or interest in last week.  Easy way of extending plot episodes, devoting half a show each week to a newbie.  Can massively increase the run of the series when only 5 minutes is devoted to the overall picture of why? each week.

Reminds me of The 4400 show when it settled into the formula of one new ability guy a week that would often be killed or never seen again.  Meh.

I didn't recognise him as the boiling water glass guy, he's definitely in again then.

I thought that they might be the same person but then when the reporter said he was a reputed mobster the low profile suburban dad with cheerleader daughter gets (even more) strained.

There must be a lot more connections, a prequel show sounds good, lots of ends that can be tied up.  The adoption and why the people get their talents/curse/ability/realisation at different ages/stages and how they can be tracked on that bigazz map and stuff in particular.  As it is now it seems that within a few months they have all kicked in, from different places in the world.  Well, USA and one guy from Japan, at least  ;D

I think they are trying to make sure they don't make Lost over again though.  A good full backstory show could avoid that and I'm looking forward to that one.

There might be one big (Govt?) spoon stirring the pot.

Is it Nov 27 yet?

Looks like they laid some groundwork for the prequel episode -- Hiro going back in time to save the waitress.  (Hmm, 'save the waitress, save the world' doesn't quite have the same ring to it  ;D )

Any new far-fetched theories this week?

(I'm thinking that they will have to bring back the little girl from the mind-reading cop's murder scene as a new hero.  After all, if her dad was killed by Skylar, then he was a hero, so she's one too?)

Title: Re: Heroes (spoiler)
Post by: TFT on November 14, 2006, 05:37:49 PM
Sylar is really Kergan from Highlander and he gets his 'quickening' from brains instead of chopping whole heads off  ;D  Same deal with the experience perhaps.

The cheerleader adoption at least was explained, they killed the mum (accidentally, of course) and stole the kid as a puppy, sweeeeeeeeet.

That mac n cheese woman has the power to tell you to squat and how high etc., like the girl from The 4400 who was running around with the 'father of the 4400' same dynamic here, shocker.  Hi, here's a waitress hero, oops, she's dead.  I guess most story lines have already been done elsewhere so originality gets harder...

At least in this show we are wondering whether Hiro has got his stuff together to tell her not to come to work.  Of course, then Sylar will just dedome her at her house, since he had obviously sought her out.  Hiro will have to be careful how he handles it.

Another incredible coincidence that Hiro and Nikiluvboy were in the same restaurant (in Texas) as the other hero at any time, never mind actually at the time when Sylar whacked her.

Maybe that's another Highlander ripoff homage?

They get the pull for the quickening or the 'prize' so they keep getting drawn together.

It seems that Bennet and his boys are able to activate the genes that make them special, and they have a perversion for tats.

Still watching, for now.
