Title: Caesar - Dimpleless Golf Ball
Post by: dystopia on March 28, 2007, 02:30:39 PM
I'd heard about this ball, but haven't see pics until now.  Interesting.

The Caesar is aimed at golfers willing to trade distance for accuracy. The golf ball's smooth surface is designed to greatly reduce sidespin, and thus greatly reduce slicing and hooking. In fact, one of the taglines being used for the Caesar golf ball is "No dimples, no hooks, no slices."

My mistake is a dead push.  I don't hook and slice much these days.  I'm not thinking this idea makes a lot of sense for me.

Very interesting, but I think giving up any of the distance that I have would be disastrous for me.

or baseballs can't be thrown with a curve...

or ping pong balls...

From the article:

Quote
In testing conducted by Titleist on otherwise identical balls, a dimpleless ball flew only half as far as a "regular" golf ball.

That's a lot of distance to give up.

Yeah.  Ain't gonna do me any good.  I can make the same *feces*ty hack-job swing at that ball as I can a regular one.  Distance isn't my problem.  It's pure consistency.

Thats a lot of trade off in distance, to much to make them appeal to me.

Um, it's not like you couldn't put a spin on the ball.  It's that any spin put on the ball wouldn't have as much an effect in terms of how far off line it flies for any given amount of spin.
