Title: Turkey Bacon
Post by: dystopia on March 29, 2009, 03:07:23 PM
sucks!  [sm_disgust]  My wife bought a package of extra lean turkey bacon yesterday.  I can't believe they're allowed to call it bacon. :'(

Damn.  My wife said she saw the Louis Rich kind but went for the Jennie-O extra lean stuff. >:(

I'd prefer Jennie-O over Louis Rich in the breast department.  ;)

Trivia time....Jennie-O is a longtime Minnesota company. The founder, Earl Olson, named the company after his daughter. I believe they were bought by a Minnesota purveyor of food (and lots of pig) products,  Hormel, a number of years ago. Apparently they didn't learn anything from the bacon group.

Turkey bacon is actually pretty good if cooked in real bacon grease. [sm_devil]
