Title: My golf....
Post by: andylo on January 17, 2008, 09:51:17 PM
Becoming so... hollow.

I never thought of the day that I will get a set of clubs that I can settle with... and if fact... I did.

My driver is straight, fairway goes high and far, hybrids are great for long shot, love the irons for the look and consistent and ball flight, wedge spin exact the way I want and even the putter is just point and shoot.

Then I start having this hollow feeling  :sad3:

No, I don't get bored with golf. I still love the game like crazy. But its the idiot behind the stick is not doing what he suppose to do.

Having spend *feces* loads of $$ on top class coaching and now I am even working with a golf specifc physio to solve my under plane problem (due to physical constraint). I just don't feel I am play as good as I should have.

There're always some glitches in my game. Today is driver, tomorrow is the freaking putting. And its nothing to do with the equipments but just me me and me!

I wish one day thing will just click and only can get more positive from there.....

Sigh.....  :sad3:

tried to throttle it down to 3/4 swings on everything except driver. worked for me (improving consistency greatly) ?

Andylo are you social golfer.
If you are, it sounds to be like you need to have a laugh and more fun out there.
Most of us would dearly love to be able to hit the ball like you describe.
Just appreciate being out on the golf course, have a look around and see how beautiful it is out there.
There are some people in this world who will never have the opportunity to play golf ever.
Even a bad day at golf, beats work.

Well said Jules.  I'm pretty sure Andy aspires to use this grand old game to make a living at some point.  May have a hard time stopping to smell the roses.

Hang in there.  If it comes too easy, you're probably doing it wrong.

Sometimes you have to give up control to gain control.

Or something like that.  Or something else.

A new putter usually solves the problem.

No more new equipment for a long long time... instead I wish I can practice say 8 hours a day. That would be great. (You have no idea how much I enjoy my golf)

Lately been a little depress... it's getting better. I was almost talk myself into believe I am one of the most unfortunate person on earth :p What an idiot.

Tomorrow play 18 holes, hopefully I will hit more then just a few good shot that will make my Sunday :)

Isn't that golf though?

The song of the optimist in us all.

Have you thought about a sport psychologist? Someone to help you with the mental aspect of it. It sounds like the six inches between your ears needs as much attention as checking your plane angle or if you're pronating or supinating correctly.  :)

I get to feeling like you sometimes, Andylo.  In the midst of a bad round, bad shot, missed easy put, etc, I usually say to myself, "One day you're going to wake up and realize you didn't spend enough time at work, and then it's going to be too late!!"  That usually puts it in perspective for me, I laugh like hell, and go hunt that evil little dimpled pill down and give it a whack.  Never once have I said, "My God, I'm right.  I've just got to get to work!!", and I'm always in a better mood when I consider the alternative to what I'm currently doing.

Yes... but I am living in a city of "having-nothing". I don't know and don't thing there's anyone is working as a sport psychologist here.

Talking about work and etc....

Usually I will practice everyday if I can... and most of the time for last 365 days, I can....

But recently missus decided to take advantage of interest rise and slower than usual house market... decided to sell our sweet home and move into something bigger with much better potential for financial purpose.

We have been looking houses every day and nite after work.... drove me nuts.'

Probably I just need a normal psychologist before I need a sport psychologist :p

Sadly, I usually go into work.

Anyway, we signed a contract for a house yester-nite....

Which means my plan of being relax is blown!

I will be (and have to) working so hard for the extra repayment. And let alone dealing with the dread of moving house + renovation... which means I will not see and touch my golf clubs for a long long time.

Its not doing any good to my golf really!

Not unlike Clive and his testes.
