Post by: TFT on December 03, 2006, 05:39:02 PM
This little piggy went to market

This little piggy stayed at home

This little piggy had roast beef

This little piggy had none

This little piggy also went to the store and carried a Wiieee Wiieee Wiieeee all the way home.

Palying bowling with the kids on Wii Sports right now, had to take a break so they could eat.  I wish they ate faster....

Is there a golf game?

are the kids winning??

My son beat me the first game

He's 6.

 :sad3:

Then we played boxing and he put the guy down faster than I did.   :sad3: :sad3:

At least I'm beating my daughter.   ;D  (Also 6, as twins have that habit)

BBD, there is a golf game on the bundled disc.

Wii Sports has 5 games, Boxing, Bowling, Baseball, Tennis and Golf, with a load of mini games for each.

I actually did beat my son by 2 strokes on the golf (phew), we just had time for a 3 holer before kid bedtime.

There are 3rd party golf games for it, which I imagine will be more detailed/realistic/surreal than the bundled one, depending on your preference.  Tiger Woods comes in 2007 although I think the Super Swing Golf looks fun, for the kids, of course  :)

The 5 'free' games that come with it are basic sample showcase thingummies.

They are all fun to play and the kids can get straight into them.

We bought 2 other games with it and they are still unopened, so I suppose that says something for the playability of the included stuff.

It's a lot of fun.

For the kids, of course.

When the kids went to bed I started messing with the other stuff, it's got wireless internet right out of the box and that's all set up.

My wife and I sat for 45 minutes watching slideshows from our camera SD cards and you can do fun things with pictures.  You can make puzzles out of them, doodle on them, change their appearance.  It really is a nice add-on.  It will play mp3s from your SD card while you watch or it has different tunes/transitions/effects you can select.

The movie format is .mov, which sucks for us since our new camera takes .avi, the old one was .mov, doh.

We can buy 'classic' games from older systems, Donkey Kong, Mario Bros., Ecco the Dolpin, Bomber Man, that kind of stuff.  You download them directly from the net.  They cost between 5 and 10 bucks each from what I can see.  Once you have it you have it forever on your machine as a channel.  If you delete it accidentally you can download it again for free.

Since the kids are only 6 they don't have the nostalgia for them though, so Mum and Dad will hopefully show restraint.

There is an Opera browser 'coming soon' (Jan hopefully) and News and Weather channels that are right there on the opening screen which refresh automatically from the web.  The Wii is designed to be left on standby 24/7 and it is always on the net, if you choose to let it be.

It does not play DVDs and lacks the horsepower of the other 2 consoles, but for fun and playabilty, even originality, it rocks socks.

Oh, and it was only 250 bucks   ;)

I am, I mean, they are.

 :)

I made pro at bowling, but tanked in my last game and got stripped of my pro status.

I'm gutted.

Nice!  My friends seem a lot more excited by the Wii than the PS3, and they're very into consoles.

TFT, did you have trouble finding one to buy?

Handled by spousal unit.

She got a telephone call the day before they were due in and she went down there (Toys R Us) early Sunday morning.

For the kids, of course.
