How could they make this sort of mistake? Don't they understand American sports? How hard could it be to distinguish? I mean, clearly the University of Miami has a larger salary cap. [sm_devil] Title: Re: The Beeb Post by: Aske on November 08, 2006, 10:46:20 AM :o :o
Title: Re: The Beeb Post by: spacey on November 08, 2006, 10:54:37 AM Perhaps "NFL" is just a generic term for "American Football." You know, like "Kleenex" means all facial tissues. [sm_dontknow]

I actually missed that upon first reading. However, in my mind there is only one "The U." 8) Title: Re: The Beeb Post by: Aske on November 08, 2006, 11:15:08 AM Perhaps "NFL" is just a generic term for "American Football." Is that related to a former local Native American tribe? (guessing from the logo)
Title: Re: The Beeb Post by: spacey on November 08, 2006, 12:21:13 PM What's a "Ute"? Is that related to a former local Native American tribe? (guessing from the logo) From Wikipedia: Quote The Utes (/juːts/; "yoots") are an ethnically related group of American Indians now living primarily in Utah and Colorado. There are three Ute tribal reservations: (1) Uintah-Ouray in northeastern Utah (3,500 members), (2) Southern Ute (1,500 members) and (3) Ute Mountain (2,000 members) — both in southwestern Colorado. (All numbers are approximate) The name of the state of Utah was derived from the name Ute. Title: Re: The Beeb Post by: Aske on November 08, 2006, 12:21:41 PM What's a "Ute"? The state is named after them and the school is known as the Running Utes although PC effected a change in mascot to a red tailed hawk in the past decade or two. Title: Re: The Beeb Post by: dystopia on November 08, 2006, 12:26:23 PM Ah, thanks guys. That's interesting, I had no idea. I just assumed it was a nickname for a resident of Utah. Good stuff.
