Title: Nicknames?
Post by: stroh on April 23, 2007, 04:59:57 AM
I think I've probably asked this before, but oh well.

I know spaceage, and Clive went by their respective monikers in school.

No one calls me "stroh", except Karen and Savannah.  Pretty much everyone I know, calls me "Mikey".

Anybody else have a standard nickname, or one that's off the wall?

LOL... mine's just a nickname given to me by a golfing buddy after a reasonably spectacular feat with a 2 iron... ;)

Friends who have known me since High School and College - Fuzz or Fuzzy (surprise)

Some at work anointed me with "monkey boy" ~ 11 years ago after a particularly interesting night that involved drinking, boats and indoor field goal kicking.  :-X

I have technically gone by my nickname my whole life.  I go by Trey but my Christian name is James.  They called my James _  _ III so they could call me Trey.

Nope, just plain old Jim.

Well, there was that whole Harry The Horse thing at Club Med, but we won't go there.... [sm_devil]

My soccer buddies call me Sea Biscuit. I'm undersized (5'8"), a bit chippy/intense, intensely competitive, hate to lose, usually win.

It's not uncommon for my friends to refer to me as "*feces*bag." I'm not 100% certain on the origins or intended meaning. I'm sure it's all in good fun though.

When I was in the Navy I earned the name "sparky". It stuck my whole time on the boat. It actually fit me.

Right now I don't have one.

Better than being called Air Biscuit I guess...

I'm a III also. :-[

Been known as Ted all my life.  Only family, close friends and the IRS/payroll people know any different.

They called me Rolaids in high school.  I was the 6th man on the basketball team and guess it related to coming off the bench and providing relief.

Hmm... I've never really stopped to analyze this much.  Upon thinking, most of my nicknames are from family and relatives and most of my friends just call me by my given name.
My grandfather called me "Peanut".  My dad has several for me including "doodle", "punkie-doodle", and "doodlebug".  Kev has a few for me, and so do the little ones.  I guess the one that everyone (family and relatives) uses the most is Nat.

It's interesting to note that my friends (with a few exceptions) don't call me Nat.  However, most of you do call me that if you aren't using my screen name.  I've actually thought about this a time or two (or three or four) before.  Maybe 'cause you are used to reading Kev use that nickname.  Not that I mind, I just find it interesting.

When I was a kid, I used to drop ants into doodlebug traps and watch them get eaten.

That is probably the worst pic of a doodlebug I have ever seen.  (The old black & white encyclopedia pictures are much less ugly. ::) )

Yes, yes, I quite live up to being a pesky little (g)Nat.  ;D

That sounds like something Kev and I would have done when we were kids, too, had their been any around here.
