Title: Aussie Floyd Post by: Uisce Beatha on September 08, 2007, 09:14:21 AM Section 115, front row. Didn't want the floor as the Beatha clan needs front row for unobstructed view. ;)
Woot!!! One of my coworkers walked around with a fully pitched tent the day he heard they were coming back to SLC.

One of my coworkers walked around with a fully pitched tent the day he heard they were coming back to SLC. It's much better than passable. They are absolutely spot on. Music, vocals, lights, stage show, everything. It's remarkable really. Title: Re: Aussie Floyd Post by: Uisce Beatha on September 18, 2007, 10:03:16 AM Bump for Seamie now that he's back.

I've heard great things about them (from Mr. Gilmour) if he says "good" that's good enough for me. Portland on Oct 16th at the Theatre of the Clouds. Portland is a bit of a drive, but hey, what am I doing? Title: Re: Aussie Floyd Post by: Uisce Beatha on September 18, 2007, 02:09:39 PM I braincramped and thought that's where you live. [sm_anon]
Seattle on the 17th. WaMu Convention Center. Title: Re: Aussie Floyd Post by: Seamus on September 18, 2007, 02:48:28 PM 35.50 per ticket terrace seating. Great price, great location.
9.25 per ticket convenience charge & 2.00 facility charge. [sm_devil] Eddie Vedder surrenders. Title: Re: Aussie Floyd Post by: Uisce Beatha on September 18, 2007, 03:09:04 PM Almost exactly the same deal as here. Well worth it.
Title: Re: Aussie Floyd Post by: Uisce Beatha on October 19, 2007, 10:41:33 AM Eight hours to show. I have 104 Floyd songs totaling 9.1 hours in iTunes. Given more than a few duplicates and drive/dinner time before the show I reckon I can get through about 70-80% of the loop this afternoon.
Thinkin' of ya Seamie. ;D Title: Re: Aussie Floyd Post by: stroh on October 19, 2007, 01:53:39 PM Any laser beams?

Title: Re: Aussie Floyd Post by: spacey on October 19, 2007, 02:46:38 PM I was invited this afternoon to accompany a co-worker whose wife can't make it to the show. I politely declined. I don't really care for said co-worker.

They are so good. Title: Re: Aussie Floyd Post by: Aske on October 20, 2007, 09:17:01 AM what was the set list?
Title: Re: Aussie Floyd Post by: spacey on October 20, 2007, 09:30:45 AM what was the set list? My understanding was that they were doing Dark Side of the Moon in its entirety and then greatest hits. Methinks "Another Brick in the Wall Part 2" was in there somewhere. Title: Re: Aussie Floyd Post by: Uisce Beatha on October 20, 2007, 10:12:02 AM Yep, you heard right spacey.
Highlights. The lady who does the Claire Torry bit on TGGITS brought the roof down. Unbelievable. The solo on STCFTHOTS knocked my socks off. Shine On is always great (they traditionally open with it) with Syd's photos on the center screen drawing a standing-o. For close to three hours these guys just absolutely nailed it. The lights and lasers and imagery on the screen were fantastic. The blow-up pig and kangaroo (easy stroh, no orifices) are a great touch and a crowd favorite. By the way, we had easily the best seats in the house - beating even front row center IMO. Order of songs after intermission is approximate but I do think I got them all. (open) DSOTM - start to finish (intermission) Shine On You Crazy Diamond Learning To Fly Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun Pigs (Three Different Ones) Nobody Home On The Turning Away One Of These Days Wish You Were Here Take It Back Another Brick In The Wall - Part II Comfortably Numb (encore) Young Lust Run Like Hell To top it all off, I knew Run Like Hell would be the last song so when it was about half over we left. It took us two minutes to get out of the parking lot. By the time we went around the corner and got on the freeway the line was hundreds of cars long. Front front row risers to 75 mph was no more than 6-7 minutes. Woot. Title: Re: Aussie Floyd Post by: Seamus on October 20, 2007, 11:04:06 AM Great review Isk.

Last year the boy loaded Animals on to his iPod. This year, DSOTM and Wish You Were Here joined it. He's diggin' The Floyd. ;D

Minor t/j: How was "the concert going experience" ? I haven't been to a real concert in years. I can't imagine going to one now.........knowing what it was like then...... I can't imagine going to one now.........knowing what it was like then...... It's way different these days. Well, it's way different when you go to shows that I go to. Everyone is 50. LOL. I don't go to concerts much. I've seen these guys twice, Eagles, Clapton, Halen and Rush once each in the past ten years. Other than a Floyd/Zep/Who reunion tour that makes it to SLC (fat chance) I'm pretty much done with concerts. Plus the prices. Holy chit. I had front row for Women and Children First in '80 for $7. My beer last night was $8. Title: Re: Aussie Floyd Post by: dystopia on October 20, 2007, 06:15:05 PM I, too, haven't been to a real concert in years.
