Pardon me if this was already posted.

I'm looking for sales on HD-DVD movies now.

It was posted, no harm though. To see that Microsoft is looking at making the Xbox Bluray compatible is interesting.

I can't remember what you bought Teed but unless it was a A35 you have a great upconverter for not much more $$$ than a standard upconverter but it also plays HD-DVD which, as you say, will be available cheap soon.  While I realize I backed the wrong horse in strict win-loss terms I don't regret my purchase at all.  I have 50+ movies that will still work for as long as I keep my player running (my Marantz DVD/SACD player is still in pristine working condition after 10 years).  Not a perfect situation but I haven't lost any sleep over it.

I'm getting a kick out of the smackdown forums.  There are a half-dozen deluded HD-DVD fanbois posting silly *feces* about the war being still on and legions of blubots responding in glee.  I'm guessing at least a few of the HD-DVD guys are wise enough and doing it just to egg them on.  You don't want to spend more than a few minutes in there or your brain will seize but it's good for a larf or two.

Just got Stardust and Bourne Ultimatum.  Eyes open for sales.

not to mention that some of the titles, while they will move over to Blu when Uni/Paramount eventually switch,   will probably not be released for 2-3 years if at ever, based on their less than stellar sales so far.   what the war showed early is that  blu fanbois and the majority of the blubase (ps3) is not interested in old classics and catalogues,  only new releases and major action/sci fi    films.

lmao, i just read a stat that only 7% of {usa} domestic bluray titles are available (legally) in australia so far.

you just gotta love region coding!  ::)     go-go-outdated-korprit interests

Blu-ray's sales have remained relatively flat over the announcements of the past 45 days.  Given that *some* percentage of HD-DVD guys probably went blue during that time it seems it might have even been a bit of a decline.  But didn't Blu-ray win?

Honestly, there are about three school bus loads of people on the planet who give a *feces* about HDM.  The format (HDM itself, not Blu-ray) has a long way to go before J6P even starts to wonder about it.

HD-DVD blowouts should begin any second now.  Please post any deals.   ;D

What I'm lovin about this is the twats who went out and bought the Toshiba units here and paid top dollar for them cos they just had to be the first ones to have it and are now stuck with redunant technology.

Suck it up champ!!

You're probably the same fools that went out and bought Beta.

Stop complaining and go sit in a Starbuck$ and enjoy your mocha latte half caf!!

2i,  the funny thing is by SONY and BLURAY  winning,  countries like australia lose thanks to region coding.  hacking BD  players to region-free will be almost umpossible,  unlike the older SD DVD.     you'll get to enjoy  what movies the studios decide australia should get, instead of what is available worldwide  :)

Fair point, but to be honest, a large percentage of the population would be too stupid to notice. The same people who voted for Dan Browns Da Vinci Code as the greatest book / novel of all time. The same people who think art house films are about some dude who owns an art gallery. The same people who can't pronounce Film Noir let alone spell it. The same people who discuss cinematography at dinner parties and know *fudge* all what they're talking about and lastly they're the same people who wouldn't recognise the significance of a plot point if it came up and bit them on the ass... ;)

*rant on*

for the record,  just to get it off my chest,  I didn't pay top dollar for my players, i got all of them heavily below msrp, and two essentially for free,   and while yes, i do have software that runs the risk of being  useless someday (if i no longer have hardware to play it...hence my 'suck it ip and buy a backup player.  no biggie)   it's no big deal to me at this point... as i don't expect it to happen.

it's far  harder to 'suck up' the fact that a far far far more anticonsumer-procorporation  technology won, largely on bribes, rather than letting consumers really pick what they wanted.   in the end, i'll have $300-$400 in players extra spent, but I'll be watching hd-dvds and  blurays (eventually)  likely till both are obsolete.  over that 8-10 year window, the extra player cost will far be offset by both enjoyable use over the time frame, and , as well, the fact I would wager some of the titles i now have on hd-dvd will likely not be on bluray at all-  their sales tanked on hd-dvd-  studios aren't impressed with catalogue sales.

i would not , even knowing what i know now about who 'won'  buy into blu ray 1 year ago, 6 months ago, or even yet today.  it's a piece of crap evolving format that only offers (to date) crippled hardware, mediocre software, and excessive DRM.   (i would still have bought into hd-dvd, although I likely would have bought a few less hd-dvd titles-- i would have waited till the current firesales.  that is all)

*rant off*

Hey aske I wasn't inferring that you were ever or are likely to be a twat.  I understand your point about anti-consumerism and so forth and clearly that sucks the bollocks like a $2 Ho!

I was generally referring to the twats here who'll pay $1500-$2000 for a unit that you would pay atleast a quarter of that price.   ;)

It's healthy for this Fourm.

Besides, I probably wouldn't refer to the members here as twats, I'd probably use something equally as offensive yet more obscure..;..
