Title: [Politics/Religion] America's#1 Hockey Mom dropped the puck at the Flyers opener

They played the music so loud that you couldn't hear the P.A. announcer. I guess it was all they could do to drown out the boos. It didn't work.

Seriously?

That's TOO funny.

Yeah, I couldn't believe that the Flyers invited her to do this on opening night. I'm not sure why you have a season opening ceremony and allow the puck to be dropped by someone who is hated by half the building.

It was pretty funny though. The boos were heavy, and then the music got REAL loud.

Well, everybody knows Flyers fans are just a bunch of effete, quiche eating elitists, right?

Watching Habs-Leafs right now, and went to my first WHL game of the season last night.

Meanwhile, Biron got lit up for 4 in the first 17 minutes and got pulled.

Shockingly, Palin did give an interview between periods! It was about what it's like to be a hockey mom...

It occurs to me that this may be the biggest sporting event she's ever attended.

The nearest NHL team to her in Wasilla is 1500 miles away, and it's likely she's never been there.

The biggest thing they have is UofA College and a minor league team, and local leagues.

just goes to show how dumb her/her team really are. Someone
Should have told her "any" city but philly.  Anyone w/ half a brain would have known that.

I'm sure the reception would have been MUCH better in Pittsburgh.

My guess is she came up with visiting an NHL city on opening night all on her own, and there isn't anything wrong with that.

I agree.  I cracked up Thursday when I first heard about this appearance.

And what the *fudge* is going on with the big buttons on her jacket?  I thought only clowns were allowed to wear buttons that big?

Don't bet on it. She'll be gone, maybe for four years, but not for eight. The wingnuts love her. She'll be back. I don't know if she'll get the nod but her hat will be in the ring at some point.

I see it more like, in 8-12 years someone "like" her emerges by following her "model"   but without taking in the negative sides: knocked up *trollop* daughter, secessionist party husband, incredibly bumbled corruption scandal...

James Carville called that part of Pennsylvania, "Alabama", for a reason. No offense to Alabama, I guess.

Did he mean George Wallace's Alabama (http://grumpyvegan.com/images/blog/civil-rights-dogs.jpg)?

I call then entire intertubes to repudiate Carville's outlandish and insensitive remarks.

Next thing you know, he's going to accuse McPalin of staging KKK rallies.

Goalie injured after tripping on Palin carpet
http://www.sportingnews.com/yourturn/viewtopic.php?t=478020
Quote
ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Blues goalie Manny Legace left after one period Friday night with a hip injury that occurred when he slipped on the carpet placed on the ice for Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

The Alaska governor dropped the ceremonial first puck before the Blues hosted the Los Angeles Kings. A narrow carpet walkway was placed from the gate at the Blues bench to center ice for Palin, her husband and two of her daughters.

Just before the ceremony, Legace was the first player onto the ice for St. Louis. A team official pointed to the carpet. But Legace said the official moved his own foot from the carpet just as Legace stepped down, causing the carpet to slide.

Legace fell, then gingerly made his way to the crease.

After Legace's mishap, the official rolled up enough of the carpet so other players wouldn't have to step on it.

Legace described the injury as a strained left hip flexor. He doesn't believe it is serious but said it is painful. He said he won't play Saturday when the Blues host Florida, but wasn't sure if he'd miss any additional games.

Why does Sarah hate St. Louis?

She has become Frankensarah (http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/10/25/palin.tension/index.html).

By this account, she would seem to have every intention of imposing herself upon us for 2012.

McCain created her, dies at her hands, and now she turns to the countryside....even a mob will be powerless to contain her.

She should have let her daughter drop the puck. I don't think the boos would have been as bad.....

"Say it ain't so, Joe."

Edit: from the linked article-
Quote
"Her lack of fundamental understanding of some key issues was dramatic," said another McCain source with direct knowledge of the process to prepare Palin after she was picked. The source said it was probably the "hardest" to get her "up to speed than any candidate in history."

I remain unconvinced the Palin pick can be blamed on McCain.

She was the choice of the party and he was facing a revolt at the convention.

At any rate, the coming civil war inside the Republican party will be interesting to watch.

Respectfully disagree with this analysis.

Romney was the choice of the party and the noise machine.

I'd bet that if Palin was seriously on anybody but Wonkette and some lovelorn 22 year olds short list, they would have vetted her a little more carefully, with or without McCain's knowledge.
