Very well thank you.  Good to see some old friends in new places.

I am no longer Funky.  The current me is refined, mellow, sweet and lacking smokey overtones.  I am often taken neat although if you splash me about a single ice cube I'll purr like a kitten.

Either mid-life crisis or epiphany.  It's hard to tell the difference.

Uisce, I recall that you're a Steelers fan, but I always thought of you as living further west.  Do you have roots in Pittsburgh or is there a weird story on how you ended up a Steelers fan?

I live in Layton, UT about 25 minutes north of SLC.  I love northern Utah.  It's a great spot.  I thought I wanted to leave when I was young so I joined the Air Force and off I went to Alabama for 3.5 years.  Didn't take long to realize I wanted to come back so I hopped in the truck during the first few hours of terminal leave and haven't budged since.

I immigrated to the states from Ireland/England/Canada in 1975.  I hadn't heard of American football previously.  The Steelers were at the top of the world in those days and as a bandwagon jumping ten year old I adopted them as my team.  Haven't waivered since.  They're a good franchise to like.  Good owners.  That makes all the difference.

What's your story?  Pardon me if I'm wrong but in exchanging emails with you it also seems that the states might not be your place of birth (your name and all).   :)

Ah, that's interesting.  It's amazing how many Steelers fans you run into all around the world.

I was born in Thailand, but grew up in Pittsburgh from 10 months onward.  I was born in '73, so I caught the tail end of the great team of the 70s.

So growing up, I was a typical Pittsburgh sportsfan.  But since then, I went to college in NY state and moved to California in '94 and haven't been back to Pgh in 16 years.

It's weird, my loyalty to the Penguins died with the 1994 NHL strike, and I'd consider myself a SJ Sharks fan now.  I also converted from a Pirates fan to a Giants & A's fan in the mid-90s, too.  But the Steelers have stuck with me.  Although last year was a little bittersweet at the end because all my friends from Pittsburgh, who've all moved away, convened back there for the Super Bowl.  So, while I was cheering for the Steelers, I was a little bummed that I didn't get to experience it back in Pgh.

Good to hear your background dystopia.  Pittsburgh is a great town.  I've had some good times there.

I don't have a hockey, basketball or baseball team.  I might be hard pressed to name five players from each of those leagues.  Football, football (soccer) and golf are my things.

So how about the rest of you lot?  Let's hear your stories.   [sm_hide]

Steeler fans are everywhere.  I flew up to Seattle a couple of years ago to watch them play the Seahawks.  The stadium was, I kid you not, at least 50% Steeler fans.

I was a guest of the offensive line coach for Seattle.  My step-father grew up with him.  He got us the very best tickets in the house.  Two steps from the mezzanine level complete with bars, restaurants, etc.  Very posh.   ;D

sounds fun.  as for steeler fans everywhere, it makes sense.  they would probably still be in pgh  if the steel industry didn't die
