Brings up a couple of other much more meaty issues.  They title the article end run.

I believe they are referring to running an end around.

Another one that keeps me up at night.  People saying quote and un-quote.  When they should be saying quote and end quote.

That's all for now.

Unfortunately, I think its all smoke and mirrors and in the 'end' will mean nothing.  If it does not play $Blue Ray$ (or HD DVD), its a device that no one really needs and will quickly be made obsolete by models that do.  You cannot generate resolution from nothing - upconverting is of little value at all.

Then again, I could be wrong - seems we have an entire population that distorts SD signals on widescreens because they like to feel like they are using the whole screen.  I use native formats and the bars on the side of the screen if its not HD.  The DirecTV installer actually tried to change it and I stopped him.  SD stretched(distorted) to fill a widescreen - hate  [sm_devil]

The whole high-def DVD market went to chit the moment Sony purchased the win.  A standard was supposed to break it wide open, but Sony's pricing model has kept it stuck in the mud.  Its time people recognized Sony as the *feces* company it really is - they should have never been allowed to buy the market the way they did.  I blame the studios, who are too stupid to even understand the things they influence.  Thats more hate on the matter  [sm_devil]

I feel the same about the eejits who won't close their breaks.  As if the w3c guys just make up standards for the hell of it.   >:(

Don't even get me started on Gog and Magog.

You are.   ;)

Upconverted DVD on my A35 is vastly superior to SDVD.  It's not perfect and it doesn't rise to the level of HD-DVD but it's not bad.  Upconverting players are easily the favorites in this race.

Agree with everything you said starting with "The whole high-def DVD market went to chit..."

I've actually lost interest for the time being.  It will be piqued again when I'm comfortable I'm safe from being a "fool me twice" gob*feces*e.   [sm_shock]

I would think this will be a very long time.  [sm_devil]
