I don't get why Cowher would want to leave the Steelers and NOT leave the NFL.  It's not like Miami is any closer to Raleigh.  (Is it?)

Agreed.  The Rooneys are about as good as it gets in NFL ownership.  Since the Robbies sold to Huzienga (sp?) I don't think Miami is anywhere near as good a gig as it was previously.

I buy into the reports.  He'll take a year or more off, get a broadcasting job and come back in a year or two for double the money.

Money money money.

I think it chaps Cowher's ass that he makes half as much as the coach that he beat in the Super Bowl, and the Rooney's simply aren't going to pay him $8mil plus per year.  Poor Billy's feeling underappreciated.  So go on to Miami, and enjoy that money when you're being fired in three years.

He's a very good coach, but not great.  Yeah, he won a Super Bowl, but he had Super Bowl champ caliber teams several other years and didn't get it done.

Technically the Dolphins have never fired a coach since Shula was hired.

Shula "retired"
Jimmuh "retired"
Wannstedt resigned
Bates was only interim
and Saban.... ::)

It's not Huizenga's style to fire anyone.  Even with Saban he took the high road.

I'd be very surprised to see Cowher in Miami though.  He's not even on a short list of candidates that is being floated by the "experts"  ::) at ESPN.

I think the Dolphins are better off that Saban left.  It appeared he was going nowhere fast in the NFL.

Maybe they'd like Wannstedt back. ;D.  And I hear Larry Coker's available. ;D ;D

I just read that Cowher will announce Friday that he's retiring.  He's already informed the Rooneys and his coaching staff.

That's okay.  There's plenty you can do with 16 crayons, but why not work on the computer where you can use 16 million colors?
