Title: EPL - job well done
Post by: hobbit on July 16, 2008, 05:12:16 PM
...on the pic accompanying Hleb's move to Barca.

Is this a footballer or a chimp?    ROFL....

Incidentally, I'm sorry to see him go.  Very creative for us, but Nasri should be able to fill the void.  Still awaiting Wenger's move to replace Flamini, our most significant loss.  Of the rumors, I think Alonso is a better fit than Barry.

And yes, I realize only one or two people will even follow this..... but it never stops aske  ;)  :D

Chin up, eh Rick?   ;)

Flamini, Hleb and probably Adebayor gone.  The little I've seen of Nasri suggests he'll be alright but the English game is a big question mark when it comes to these guys.   You never know, after all it took Hleb a couple of years to come into form.  He's some kind of creator.  I think he'll be missed and combined with the other two guys' departure Gunners will dip to fourth or fifth.

Arsenal will never spend big but Arsene's pulled magic up through his system a million times.  Who knows what he has waiting in the wings.   They'd better be ready to play though.

*goshdarn* United are going to win it all again anyway.   :sad3: :sad3: :sad3:

Yeah, it may take Nasri a season or so.  Like I said, I think Flamini is the biggest loss by far.  It doesn't take a genius to realize what his pace, energy, and leadership (more so than Gallas) provided us during the season over Gilberto.  Gilberto is a class act, but consistently slowed the game down, rather than provide pace with occasional slowdowns.  Who can fill that void?  I'm not sure, but I do not see it yet.  I'll chin up once I see that void filled.

Dare I say... Mascherano would be perfect, but not for sale I suppose.

No chance.  Speaking of Pool, I can't wait to sit you and Mark next to each other in McKee's after a few pints.  Could be high entertainment.

BTW, he told me today he's getting 'YNWA' on his license plate for his birthday.

Well, that is the best team slogan in the EPL, I must admit.

Too bad Benitez cannot develop talent and depends upon large acquisitions for it.  He's good at placing them together, but not developing them from a young age.  Wenger can produce in this area, where Benitez fails.

Well, in all honesty, it's not necessarily Wenger either.  It's the academy and the system and the scouts and the coaches for 5-6 levels below the EPL first team manager.  But it is fair to say Arsenal excel in this area and Liverpool not so much.  Gerrard was a home grown player though.

There  is a hot shot coming up out of Pool system at the moment.  I think he's slated for some first team time this year.  LOL, can't remember his name or position.
