Waffle House visit wasn't over easy

Quote
An Eagleville man had to hold on for his life after three teens allegedly dined and ditched at a local Waffle House on May 30.

Andrew Brian McKnight grasped the hood of a vehicle driven by 18-year-old Christopher Allen Miller, of Murfreesboro, when the driver allegedly attempted to run him over outside the Waffle House on Old Fort Parkway at Cason Lane.

Miller, who was charged in the incident, drove away from the scene and, according to police, reached speeds of up to 60 mph with McKnight on the hood. McKnight, who's actually a Waffle House employee at the South Church Street location, called 911 on his mobile phone and talked to a 911 dispatcher as the incident was occurring.

"Yeah, I need you to send a cop car to Highway 99 at Cason Lane immediately," McKnight tells police after dialing 911. "I'm stuck on the hood of somebody's car and they refuse to stop."

"Now, do what now?" the dispatcher responds.

"I'm stuck on the hood of someone's car and I need a cop car at Highway 99 and Cason Lane immediately," McKnight replies, almost completely muffled by the wind noise created by the moving vehicle. "They are driving at ... about 40 mph and they will not stop."

There's only one word in the English language that's flexibile enough to replace all the ellipses in this quote:

Quote
"Where do you get off going 60 mph with a ... person on your ... hood!" he yelled. "I've got two ... kids! You think I want to watch them go to a ... funeral? Really? You nearly killed me! You're lucky the cops are here!"

That's it?

Miller has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of reckless endangerment as a result of the incident, according to Evans. There are currently no charges pending against the juveniles.

In Beverly Hills, McKnight would have been charged with jaywalking.
