Too many sicko *fudge*s out there and too many missing and exploited kids as it is. Then you see this, and all those people walked right by her. The one that did pick up on it, "did nothing". I bet if that poster said airport terrorist, and there was anybody on that bench wearing anything close to resembling 11 thread count JC Penny bedding, and a suntan, they would have half of Homeland Security at the mall. I wouldn't move her or sit down next to her -- too many idiots out there that could cause me trouble for innocent Samaritan behavior. I have done so in the past where I see a little child alone,crying looking scared. The way I approach it is basically make a small scene. Get others involved. As long as there is a group around parents are less worried about what you are doing and realize the situation with the child. But then I have never been one to sit around and watch. I'm the guy that stops to help when first on the scene be it an accident, emergency, trouble, whatever it is.
I'm not a police man, fireman, EMT, etc.. but I would be. And yet I understand the feelings of these strangers. It takes alot to do something. It is very easy to say "I'll let the next guy handle it, I don't want to get involved." She was just sitting there, probably looking as placid as in the Missing Child poster to make it easier to recognize her face.Lone child crying in a small, I stop for. The bear's gotta eat. |
