Title: A sad evening for Aske..
Post by: Aske on January 07, 2007, 08:42:24 PM
well, I guess aside from Wrestlemania,  that's the last WWE PPV  I will watch.

went to the local FoxNHound (wwe 'jumpsite' or whatnot)  where they show the ppv.   its not the best place n the world, but its decent enough.  much more fun to shoot pool, eat, and have a few drinks while watching the ppv and spend $40 than to spend $40 at home to watch it, and that doesnt include food or drinks

long story short, 2 hours (trying several locations/tables inside) of waiting and no waitress offered service despite my attempts at yelling/waiving.     finally complained to the management and 20 minutes later one comes by, and wants to know if i want anything.  of course, it was already the main event.  yeh, i want to place a food order
::)

now, the service there is always, at best*,  mediocre , but this is simply preposterous, and the fact that my pool wasnt retroactively comped  is insulting.

since thats the only place in pgh that shows em,  *fudge* it .
 >:(

Bummer.

I'm surprised that's the only place in town that shows it.  When I lived there, wrestling was huge there (ok, that was over 15 years ago...)

I just did a search, and someone posted a little over a month ago about Primanti's showing WWE ppv?  Mmmmm. :hungry:  Might be worth a try. [sm_dontknow]

I watched a WWE pay per view at a primanti's not too long ago, Primanti's does it all the time, then again they don't charge a cover or anything. It's prolly the charging that does it.

? why would this turn you off of the WWE PPVs?  Seems the problem was the location...was the entertainment not that good either?

We have a local Fox and Hound here, the first thing that pisses me off about it is that they could only afford one dog.

It should be Fox and Hounds, Fox and Hound is some crappy Disney nasty.

Engrish pub my Anglo arse.

When it opened though they had this beer mug thing going on.  25 bucks for a 20+ oz mug that when you have a domestic beer in it, it's about half price, or less.

Score, bought 3.

 ;D

If anyone wants to use them they are numbers 106,107 and 108.  Elvis, Costello and Abbot, it was funny at the time so hush.

They have probably been worth 3k by now.  The gift that keeps on giving.

Anyway, I'm pretty good friends with the front of house manager and I usually get well looked after there.

A couple of months ago 4 of us, 2 couples dropped in there after my annual movie outing.  As luck would have it there was some Ultimate fighting thingy on.

You know, the game where someone sits on the other guys face for 10 minutes farting until one passes out.

'Cover charge $5'

'I'm not paying that, I came for a drink, not to watch the TV'

'Then you aren't coming in'

'Erm...'

Wife being wife and hating it when tables get thrown (bless her) ponies up 20 bucks and we all go and sit down.  Outside.

2 servers come out, I carry on my moaning, having now noticed that no TVs outside are showing the 'fight' but the sound is being piped through the speakers.  I ask for it to be turned off and they oblige.  20 bucks to sit on a patio, that's a bit greedy.

I ask for a manager guy, the guy I know well is on some crazy 6 week training course states away.

As luck would have it the other manager guy recognises me and the argument I was about to have with him didn't happen.  He came out and handed us all 5 bucks each.

So it all ended well, but only after they pissed me off bigtime.  The guy on the TV got his face sat on and all that seemed to make everyone happy inside.

Haven't been back since.

Don't get TFT wrong, he likes man on man face sitting, just not in public nor when it carries a cover charge.

Well, it's just the cover charge.

Public is OK.

The last time I saw 2 dogs going at it I didn't see someone running around collecting fees.  For any of the 3 hours...
