Title: Age
Post by: E-A-G-L-E! on March 17, 2007, 02:48:24 PM
My age just hit home.  I've been called "old" twice this week. Still I haven't considered myself old.  Even though Clive was one of the 2 that called me old, you all probably don't really consider me old.

However, I had this conversation with my little brother Garrett:

(We're in the the kitchen, and he is twirling around in circles while talking to me and counting to ten.)
Me: Do you know what comes after 10?
Garrett: No
Me: 11 comes after 10.
Garrett: 11
Me: Yeah. :)  Do you know what comes after 11?
Garrett: No
And so on until we get to 21.  Okay, now he has repeated 21.
Me: Do you know anyone that is 21?
Garrett: Na-nee (his nickname for me) ;D
Me: Yeah! ;D

As I stood there looking down at him, the difference in our age was just so evident at the moment.  I felt older for a second.

I was in some discount store a few months back.  When I went to pay for my purchase, the checkout girl rang me up and gave me a 10% discount.  I asked about the discount, since I didn't see any signs.  She told me Tuesday was Senior citizen day at their store and that was their discount for seniors.   :-[  I'm still 10 years away, I guess I look old.

I get that "Senior coffee, sir?" bit at McDonalds quite often. If I didn't like their coffee so much I would never go in there. Kids  ::)

I just turned 50 in January.  21 seems like a long time ago, which it was.  Everything is relative.  God willing, when I reach 60, 50 will seem young (well maybe not that young.)

My 85 year-old Mom has been in the hospital for seven weeks and I have been visiting her frequently.  I find that when I go to the hospital cafeteria the cashier gives me a 20 percent senior discount.  She never asks me how old I am - I turn 65 on March 25 and I guess I look my age.

On the positive side, I get a large styrofoam cup of freshly-brewed Maxwell House coffee for $0.95.  Whoopie!!!

I'm at the point where I'm in bed at 11:00 pm, and up at 6:30am...

My father assures me that the both numbers move back as you get older.

I figure when I turn 50 in 6 years, I'll be going to bed at 7:45 and getting up at 3....

I know people my age that have teenagers. That makes me feel old. Luckily my oldest is only 8 so that makes me feel a little younger. Also helps that my wife is 6 years younger then me.

Indeed Fuzzy, I'm 21 x 2 myself.

One of us has the answer, the other the question.  Problem is we're confused as to who has what.  Perhaps stroh can help.

21 x 2 myself.  Sometimes feel older, sometimes younger.  Kids are 3, 5, and 7, which helps both sides of the feeling older/younger equation :P

Lets see I'm 21 x 2.09635 but my kids are 19 and 17 so generally I feel like I'm 21 x 2.87691 or 21 x 3.00486, but when they bring boys home to meet me I feel like I'm 21 x 1.12785.

I have the math all worked out if you'd like to see it.

LMAO...not if you raise 'em right.

It's debatable which is harder to raise nowadays, my girls have been pretty good I must say.

Two boys, 27 and 24 now.  The oldest is about to get married, and I think the younger is on the same path.

All I have to say is, I only ever had to worry about two *8==>*s. [sm_devil]

Is she being repressed or is this the violence inherent in the system?
