Title: Pretty day out on the course today.
Post by: Salamander on April 22, 2007, 05:33:36 PM
Or, to rephrase, my first round of the season didn't suck much, as tradition dictates.

Aske has those two buddies from CMU and they all wanted to go golfing, so I decided to sacrifice my fencing practice and get my first round instead. Getting reassured that none of the players was significantly better or worse than the rest, I went shopping to buy a top and glove that coordinate my new shoes, (hey, a girl has to do what a girl has to do) and after some socializing on Saturday we set the alarm for the asscrack of dawn, Sunday morning. Church is not an option anyway.

Alarm goes off and my teeth don't hurt much (i'm in the process of a root canal and I clench my teeth when I sleep, which can result in some very interesting pain in the morning), so we set up the clean/regroove factory in the guest bathroom and in 15 minutes we're ready to go. We have a tee time for 9:50 and no traffic to worry about. The weather is just splendid. 25oC and constantly sunny with the occasional breeze.

Aske's friends meet us shortly and off we start.

I hate the first hole of Meadowink. It has water on its left and ugly nasty treeses on the right. I sacrificed a ball (one of the good Precept ones, dammit!) in said water, but from there and on it went rather good.

Which meant basically: Good but not very long tee shots, very good thee wood, decent irons (I did hit a killer PW approach), miraculous hybrid crap (ask Aske to tell you about what I did on 18) and very good (since last season) short game, with no real chip skulling. Yay. Putting was okayish, I still can't read putts while wearing my prescription sunglasses, but w'out them I suffer on the course, so I don't mind compromising.

I told Aske that he should drag his sorry ass here and post about his round, which he'll do. He has been rather busy and not in a postarific mood, but he'll be back, as it is my will and order. In short, he had a pretty good round too. He has the scorecard in his pocket, as well. I am positive I didn't scare his friends away and that they won't mind playing with someone that uses a different tee box than them.

LOL.... we need the rain here.  Atleast it wasn't windy. I hate it when rain comes in sideways.

Still managed to shoot 76 so that was ok...

The weather hasn't really been conducive to golf this weekend, so the only golf related activity I had this weekend was assembling a set of wedges for a guy on figs and reshafting my platinum CX Micros because I'm too much of a girl to hit Rifle Spinner 5.5s. Since I leave for Vegas on Tuesday and don't come back until Sunday, It might be a couple of weeks before I get out again.  :'(

Why can't you play @ Vegas?

I might end up playing, but I don't know yet. It'll depend on my schedule (going for work after all) and whether my friend who lives there can find a tee time that's not super expensive.

I'm fairly confident that 2nd part of the equation will be more difficult than the 1st.

I agree. Golf is ridiculously expensive over there.

It was better than my 1st round of the year... that's for sure...

only a dead straight drive with good height will play.  definitely not good for a course where there's no practice tees.
(great place otherwise)

the hybrid she hit had to, and did, thread through about a 3 foot wide tree gap to get to the green. it was awesome

... so we set up the clean/regroove factory in the guest bathroom and in 15 minutes we're ready to go.
After some meals, it really does feel like that, huh?

Depends. do YOU use a groove sharpener in your bathroom, and why?
