Title: is there anything on the horizon...
Post by: Aske on October 12, 2006, 06:27:27 PM
that you are at least looking forward to trying in a store...

?

i haven't seen a new OEM design that really caught my eye in a while...

last was the macgregor forged blades   (675?)

I've seen pictures of those MacGregors, they look sweet.  I don't think I have the game for them, though.

I'd like to try a Nike Sumo for kicks, but I doubt I would buy one unless it really blew away everything else.

Oh yeah, I also just acquired an 18* Wishon 321 head as well as an Infiniti 18* Hotshot, so I'll be doing a hybrid showdown against my old SnakeEyes QuickStrike in the next few weeks.

My prediction is that the Wishon will dominate, with Infiniti coming in a distant second.  8)

They look pretty sweet. Really the only recent OEM offering that has my interest.

Since there's no progressive set  (from cavity to muscle) of women's irons (that I can afford, anyway), no, I don't think so.

I went and tried these out on my lunch break today. They are sweet. I didn't realize they come stock with True Temper Black Gold steel shafts (though it says so right on the website). They are gorgeous the feel is every bit as good (if not a little better) than my Wishon 550s. If it weren't for the $800 price tag, these puppies could easily sway me back to OEM irons.

I haven't tried the pro black lites, I've got the Pro Blacks in my wedges and the Satin Silvers in my irons. I like both.

I just think the Black Gold shafts are nice looking. (Stepless and brushed nickel finish.) I have no real world experience, but they did feel pretty good hitting into the net. The FST shafts, aside from being solid performers, do have the benefit of being about 35% of the cost of the Black Golds.  ;D

saw these shafts in person yesterday... the would look nice on a gunmetal finished head.   as for playability....   [sm_devil]

Those look good.  Are they callaways?

yup.  I like the brown ones in the front.

hard to justify buying another pair of golf shoes when i already have 3 other pairs that are in perfectly good condition... though i dont have a wife nagging me about it.   ;D ;D

Since they're callaways, they aren't gonna be cheap either.

I really like the dress shoe/bowling shoe type of golf shoes, but I always fall back with my sneaker style shoes for comfort.  Even in winter when I play in long pants, I just look dorky with white sneaker style golf shoes.  I have a pair of black and a pair of brown golf dress style shoes that I never wear, they're just not as comfortable.

[sm_shock]  you just bought these?  with your long drive winnings?

the black/brown ones in front?  The black white ones in back look kind of like baseball cleats.

The new Nike Unitized putters are catching my eye and I'll definitely demo one.

The old Maltby P.E.T. putter had similar characteristics and always got great reviews, but it was heel-shafted, so I wasn't interested.

I'm looking at the Techno.  Looks ugly, but it's their only center-shafted option.

Was never a mallet type.  Dinked around with a Futura awhile back and a 2Ball fakey...neither of them made it on the course.  I've always liked blade putters, and since i don't like the sound a ping makes, and don't like inserts, I've stuck with my SC newport through thick and thin.

Which hogan putter is this?  Is it the same one that you were ranting about being the same as a Mizuno but half the price?

Good pickup, but then I'm a fan of all things BG, so I don't think you can go wrong with any of his creations (used to play the M5K, currently have the M2 in the bag.)

One thing I didn't realize until after I won the auction is that there appears to be two kinds of center-shafted M5K GT putters.  I think one style might be called "tour center shafted".  The one I won has a bend in the shaft, but it looks like there's also a model with a straight center-shaft.

When I demoed these in the store, I think I preferred the straight center-shaft one, but this one was only $19.59 (+$13 shipping), so I'm not too bummed.

Pretty certain the one with the double bend shaft is heel shafted, not center shafted.  :o

If you don't like the heel shafted, let me know, maybe we can work out a deal.

That's weird, I thought the heel-shafted model attached way at the heel.  Like this one on the right:

(http://images.google.com/images?q=tbn:agr5V66yn36hkM:http://ac.c.yimg.jp/7/1023/1783/000/bag05pr000.ac.yahoo.co.jp/users/5/4/4/6/festival0742-thumb-1155460387213255.jpg)

from the other pictures, it looks like there's a style that has a bend and is attached somewhere between the center and heel. [sm_dontknow]

I guess you're right. It seems the original V-Foil putters didn't have so many options. Or else I'm talking out of my ass. (It happens a lot.) Either way, if you decide you don't like it, let me know first.  ;)

i think it's just original vs. new  model of the grace series.

my old one (6.4k) c/s  has a straight shaft.
