Title: What do you typically eat for breakfast?
Post by: dystopia on June 06, 2007, 05:35:56 PM
I need to start eating healthier.  My dinners aren't bad, but my breakfasts before work are often a croissant/muffin + coffee from a cafe, or worse, McDonald's. :sad3:  So I'm looking for new ideas for breakfast.

What do you usually eat for breakfast on weekdays?

Sorry no new ideas from me, I'm a coffee and a muffin/english muffin/bagel/raisin toast guy myself. In a pinch I'll settle for coffee and cookies or a baggie of dry Cheerios.  :sad3:

Ususally a couple of slices of toast with Vegemite or Peanut Butter, coffee and juice

No help here either.

If it's a weekday, I don't eat breakfast as a rule.  Only coffee.

If it's a weekend, I drink the same thing I did the night before.

Every great once in a now and again, if we stay at a hotel or something, I'll have an English muffin, from the complimentary free-for-all, end of days, loss of human dignity, hog trough, food shelf,  :airquotes: Continental Breakfast :airquotes:..........if there's one left.  :glasses:

Keeping with the fiber theme AM started with his diver tick u lie tis thread I have a few options that I vary.

Oatmeal with just a hint of brown sugar (not much) and generally some berries on top (blue, black, straw, changes).
I also found a Kashi high fiber cereal that I like, with soy very vanilla milk, not bad.  Sometimes I'll scramble a couple of eggs (maybe once a week) and have them with whole wheat English muffins with some natural blackberry preserves, sometimes I'll just have the muffin and some fruit, bananas, apple, orange...

Everybody always says "I don't have time for breakfast", it's only a few minutes, make time.

Oatmeal with raisins.  I keep a container of Quaker Oats in my credenza, quart of skim milk in the fridge, and keep an oversized coffee mug at my desk.  There's a microwave in the break room at my office.  Each morning put some oatmeal and water in the mug, nuke it for a minute, drop in a mini-box of raisins and ready to go.

Cool thing about this is if I get a mid-afternoon snack craving I just do the oatmeal again.  Much less damaging than anything I'm going to get out of the vending machine.

Cereal. Sometimes on the weekend we will have eggs or pancakes.

3 chocolate Hostess Donettes, sometimes I switch up with the crunchy ones, and lots and lots of coffee, cream only.

Monday-Saturday: two cups of half-caf coffee, probably organic Pop-Tart wannabes or cereal (Cheerios, Corn Chex, Corn Flakes, or similar).

Sunday: one cup of half-caf coffee, then brunch with the youngster (likely an omelet, French toast, or pancakes; bacon; toast).

We are a bunch. Some only drink coffee, others non healthy fattening stuff with coffee. Are we all fat? [sm_oops]

Then you got the oatmeal people. Bet they are all skinny.

Everything bagel with liverwurst
French roast coffee, black as night

I don't have a problem admitting it. Yeah, I'm fat. My diet is cutting back to the three Donettes for brekkie, as opposed to all 6.

Regular for SURE, but not necessarily skinny...

Coffee seven days a week.  Very unhealthy, but that's the habit I'm in.  If I do feel the urge to be healthy, I'll have a splash of juice.

Weekdays I like a bowl of Just Right with lite milk ;D

Weekends I like poached eggs on toast, with lots of salt and pepper.

Some low-fat or fat free cottage cheese with fruit, or a Cliff bar.  No coffee, just water.

Don't know, but it tastes good.  But now that I think about, maybe that's why I'm getting man-boobs (or it could just be I'm old and fat).

1 cliff bar or 1 optima drink with light soy milk or life chocolate with soy milk or special k with chocolate, again with soy milk. I have found that the soy milk won't upset my stomach like dairy does..

Either a lite yogurt, (no sugar, no fat), or a couple of pieces of Whole wheat or Health Nut toast, (Arnold's, made by Brownberry, has no refined sugar or flour), and coffee. If I'm in a rush, a banana will tide me over for a few hours.

Damn does that bring back some memories, vague but good.

Usually, I just have peanut butter crackers and a Diet Coke.  Sometimes I go down to the cafe at work and have hashbrowns and eggs when I'm starving.  At home I'll either have oatmeal or a full on pancakes, bacon and eggs feast.

My breakfasts are as varied as the rest of my life.  I especially enjoy them in the summer, as I can take breakfast with my morning newspaper at any of several spots on the Blader Estate.

Last weeks preparations

Mon:  poached eggs with roasted asparagus, prosciutto and chive oil; vegetable juice (dash of fresh ground pepper), water, coffee; shade table in rose garden

Tues:  parsley-crouton omelets with gruyere; mango juice and tea; on the pool deck

Wedn:egg noodle, charde and fontina torte; orange juice, coffee; in kitchen (it was raining)

Thurs: creamy maple polenta; milk and coffee; breakfast room

Fri:  mascarpone, ham and asparagus tart; in kitchen (running late)

Sat: bagel, smoked salmon, capers and lemon; grapefruit juice and coffee; by the pool

Sun: A banana and an apple, grabbed at the Golfhouse Grill and devoured whilst chasing my tee shot down the first fairway.

Usually oatmeal, a piece of fruit, and coffee. Today I was running late so I ate a granola bar, banana, and coffee.

Blader -- your menu is making me drool.  Yum!  I wouldn't mind borrowing your chef (or at least your grocery shopper) for a week!   ;D

Breakfast this morning was two bowls of Puffins (a 'health' cereal).
Yesterday it was a peach, an apricot, and a handful of nuts.

I've been enjoying a mug full of plain yogurt mixed with either jam or maple syrup on my drive into work lately.  Though it can be a bit of challenge not to spill any in my lap!   :-[

I'm sorry, Consuela is not for hire.  And to be honest, most find her a bit petulant. She almost got into a fist fight in the Whole Foods produce section the other night.
