Title: This far away from Animal
Post by: Uisce Beatha on March 24, 2008, 04:57:55 PM
Wife and kids are out of town.  They've only been gone since 10:00 but I know what the next 3-4 days will bring.  I'll cook food that takes years off my life, I'll drink every night, I'll watch violent movies, I'll let the place turn into a pigsty.  Happens every time.  Why is that?  Am I seriously just three people away from turning into a Best of Cops episode?

I'm halfway through Slevin.  Started it too tired one night and couldn't make it.  Good so far.

Then I think Shooter.

btw, from what i've seen on cops, you'd also need to be a meth head / crack*trollop*  and have a prostitute/stripper    gf on the side

Remember, no shirt either.

This will only be a problem if you run out of laundry in the next 3-4 days which is unlikely. But not knowing your wardrobe or hygiene habits I shouldn't make that call just yet.  ;)

UB, you and Russell are in the same boat.

I've got to go to Brisbane today (I don't want to go), Russell will be doing exactly the same things as yourself. ;D

It's as god intended it. The abuse you put yourself through while they're gone makes you that much more appreciative when they get back. Make sure to put your pants back on by the time she pulls into the driveway.

I'm joining them in St. George on Thursday night or Friday morning.  But that's good advice.  My ass will be way sweaty after 4.5 hours on leather car seats.

Perhaps Clive could offer a suggestion for some kind of talc that won't get all pasty.

The last time I took Clive's road trip advice I nearly ended up with a hernia and more than a passing acquaintance with the Columbus, MO gaol staff.  Not necessarily in that order.

Out loud to nobody but myself:  "Wow, this Sam's Club Deli Deep Dish Chicago Style pizza is pretty damn good!"

Is redemption possible?  Can the missus fix broken Uisce upon her return?

As powerful as the forces of single male entropy can be, it's nothing compared to the forces behind the desire to be in the good graces of those who allow you to have **** with them. I think it's one of Newton's laws or something.

I hate to think I'm entropeeing all by my lonesome.  Seems like a waste of energy.

Watched Slevin the other night.  Started from the beginning as I couldn't count on my memory.  Glad I did.  It's brilliant.  Had the ending figured out long in advance but it didn't ruin it for me at all.  Great flick with very clever dialogue in the tradition of Guy Ritchie.  Loved it.

Soldier - t minus 10 minutes.

Have you gone more than one day without shaving?
Have you worn underwear -- clean underwear -- every day so far?
Have you scratched yourself while drinking anything from its original container in front of an open refrigerator?

If you've not answered "yes" to any of these questions, you can be salvaged.

Did just that.  One of the benefits of being a hobbit hermit.

Pretty good flick I thought.  Far less over the top than most action flicks.  Hero hurts, bleeds, etc.  Understated on the obligatory anti-"War in Iraq" front too which you don't get so often these days.

Audio was extremely well done especially early in the show.  Great source material with helicopters, extremely long range rifle fire, plus fantastic attention to environment sounds.

Video was good.  No artifacts as far as I could see.  Problem is, I can't really see (gotta get some inside glasses one of these days).   ;)

A couple of minor visuals I thought were really pulled off well.  When he shoots the can of stew and they slo-mo the recoil.  Also, the U.S. flag waving in the wind.  Little things but that's what makes HD shine - a bunch of little things.
