Dang man...sorry dude.

In an attempt to try to make you feel a little better I can tell you that the same exact thing happened to a friend of mine 5 years ago.

He lost his leg from the knee down.

Hang in there.

Sorry to hear this AM, even though you do ride teh evil. [sm_devil] ;D  I've had a couple of close calls this year myself with inattentative *bunghole*s in cages, and it could have just as easily been me instead of you.  Heal up, and hit it hard next year.

Dude, that sucks. Much mojo in your direction.

If it helps you feel better, I've widened my list of potential candidates to include the Super Glide.

That sucks. Good luck.

One of the many reasons a former roomate rode with his high beams on all the time.  Not that it helps all the time, but it can make a small difference.

thanks for the well wishes guys, it really is appreciated. :) i count myself as very lucky only having the injuries that i do. i always ride with boots and jeans on, and my leather jacket, if it is not too hot. the firemen tried to cut the jacket off, but i was gonna be the one legged man in the ass kicking contest, :boxing: and they finally relented.

i live in a multi level house, so this has created quite a burden on my day to day life. i am pretty much restricted to the living room, kitchen and bathroom. i sleep on the couch with my leg elevated on the arm. it's not the worst pain i have ever felt, i've had two collapsed lungs, but it is relentless. hopefully after the surgery tomorrow it will subside some. been eating vicodin's like m&m's. ;D

Sorry to hear that Jeffro, surgery will help you heal quicker.

Do what the Docs and therapists tell you to.  Don't try to tough it out through the pain, it only slows down the process.

The PT will be rough, don't wimp out.

Hope the other driver has really good insurance.  Sounds like they're gonna be paying for a new bike, some lost wages, pain and suffering, medical care.  ETC., dont let them off the hook for anything.

Sucks dude. Did this happen at an intersection or did the driver just change lanes into you?

Oh, no!  I hope you have a speedy recovery and that the pain will lessen soon.  Take care of yourself!

(http://truckstuff4u.com/graphics/backoff.jpg) - my dad found this when he was still riding (was for a truck so he was in the processes of jury-rigging when he sold the bike instead; oh well, good memories).

it was at a stop light. i rolled up as the light changed to green, i was traveling about 20-25 when she made a left hand turn right into me. funny part was that she had a totally unobstructed view of me with my headlight on. i was concentrated on someone too the right that looked like they were going to make a right turn in front of me. by the time i realized she was turning, i was looking at the sky. weirdest thing i have ever felt. kinda like if you walked around a corner, and someone laid you out. :o

My dad's been in a few motorcycle accidents, and has some stories to tell.

One you might enjoy:  My dad had let his brother-in-law, who was a mechanic for our military at the time, take the bike out for a spin.  Let's just say, Chuck totaled it.  Thankfully, Chuck wasn't hurt.  Later, though, my dad gets a letter from the government for damaging government property. :o

:D

I did that to a guy when I was 17.  *fudge*ed him up pretty good.  Totally my fault as far as I know but to this day I don't know where he came from.

"Start seeing motorcycles" is a great bumper sticker but, you know what, they're smaller than a car.  Some times they're hard to see.  Not talking about AM's scenario here.  Just a general observation.

Get well and I hope it all works out medically, financially and so on.

Yikes! I'm glad you're all right and the injuries weren't more severe. Get well soon.

Almost had my run in last week except it was a guy on a cell phone in a truck....  Good to know you are still around to tell about it, could have been much worse.   Now that we know how you are, how's the bike?
