Title: Weird Thing Happened At Lunch Today Post by: Clive on February 26, 2008, 07:48:04 PM I completely forgot that I'd rescheduled a lunch date with a partner from a firm in town. He was just making a social call, which is legal code for "I want you to give us work that we can bill you large amounts for". Two-way street, of course: "I want you to familiarize yourself with my intellect, credentials, achievements, and stunning personality in case you or a colleague happens to be hiring in the future."
Anyway, I suggest a decently nice restaurant up the highway. We're seated, we're chatting along just fine, I glance over and see one of the VPs sitting at a table along the window. Wow, I think in italics, funny that Mark would come here for lunch. Then my eye roves his companions ... and I see it's a table of a dozen guys from work: CEO, COO, CFO, two VPs, handful of technical directors, 2-3 lower-ranking R&D folk. They in turn see me. And the guy in the suit that I came in with. So now the gossip through work is that I was interviewing.
