Title: Snippets about The Masters on SI
Post by: dystopia on April 07, 2007, 10:01:29 AM

Some funny and sad stuff here:

This year's story that will live in Masters lore concerned the gentleman who had a ticket for Wednesday and showed up at Gate 3 on foot, pulling his golf cart and clubs with him. The man had a ticket clearly marked "Practice Round," and he presumed he could bring his clubs and play. Security and club officials did all they could to fight back the laughter as they told the man he was welcome to come in, but couldn't play.
-- Boston Globe

Tiger Woods was into his ferocious swing at the tee on No. 13 when he had to stop. Photographers need not worry this time, however. "A bird flew right over me," said Woods, who halted his swing, even though he was perhaps three-quarters of the way through it. "I felt like I broke my back, my neck, my arm. I don't know how baseball players check their swings."
-- Boston Globe

Fred Couples has had his back seize up at unexpected times in his life. He said he was not sure when he would play again after the Masters. The on-again, off-again nature of his pain has bogged him down.

I saw this on Golf Channel last night or the night before, I'm not sure why he's not in traction right now.

The greens this year are REAL difficult!

It was pretty tough watching Tom Watson three-putt the 18th yesterday to miss the cut.  :sad3:

I heard/read this elsewhere.  Apparently this dude brought himself and his gear all the way from Japan.   [sm_shock] [sm_shock] [sm_shock]

Love Tom Watson.  I think he would have done comparatively well (considering his age) in today's conditions.

Just finished "Caddy For Life: The Bruce Edwards Story" a couple of weeks ago.  As much as I respected Watson previously this book kicked it up about five notches.

Is that what happened?  They showed a reply today, but I couldn't tell why he stopped his swing.
