Title: My son's first B-Day
Post by: Walfredo on October 24, 2007, 07:19:15 AM
was last night and we threw a party for him.  Lots of family and friends watching him dance to his favorite music everything from Bob Marley's Natural Mystic, El Rayo X and the Beatles.  The event was well documented of course.  I could put together a feature length film with all the footage I got.  Anyway he got some clothes and toys that you'd expect a 1 year old to receive.  However, he did get one thing I'm jealous of and others on this board will be as well.

During OU/TX weekend my in-laws ran into Adrian Peterson at the Northpark Mall in Dallas.  He was in the True Religion store sitting on a chair.  My Father in law did a double take and AD gave him a wink like yeah it's me.  So he walks up and asks if he can sign something for his grandson that is about to be one.  So AD gets a pin and scribbles on the bag and says, "that's not a good pen let me get a better one".  So he goes around the store until he finds a sharpie takes a fresh True Religion Jeans shopping bag and signs:

Happy BDay Van!    Adrian Peterson # 28

Coolest first BDay present evar!  We are going to frame it for him so he can keep it forever.  I'll post a pic tonight.

Torp's head is going to explode.  And not in a good way.

Cool story.  Happy Birthday 'Fredo Jr.

btw,  interesting timing .   last night i double or triple taked because i could swear charles barkley was going into circuit city as i was leaving.   dude was at least a head and neck taller than me in passing (i'm 5'8),  hefty but on what was an obviously once athletic frame,  had the stache and shaved head.   he had a phone to his ear but didn't say anything (voice would be the real giveaway to confirm).   no ultra nice cars in the parking lot, and no clue why he would be in pittsburgh if it was him.

Unless you're a Hobbitt, why do you think it's so cool to be only 5' tall?

It sure did.  I realize now how the first BDay is more for the parents.

My in laws and a few others I know that ran into him in Dallas had nothing but nice things to say about him.  They all said he was happy to talk to them and very friendly not to mention humble.

Hehe, that smiley threw me off, too, because it not only makes Aske look like he's 5' tall, it takes out the right parentheses, so I now picture Aske as this guy (5'8),  hefty but on what was an obviously once athletic frame)

Sweet! Did they shake his hand? Every game the announcers talk about his hand shake and say he has the strongest one in the NFL. ;D

:shoothead:  doh  I'll post a pic tonight.  Thanks for torpedoing the thread to remind me.

I assume my father in law shook his hand but he didn't mention it.  I'll ask though but firm handshakes are the norm round here ya here.

BTW have you heard about one if his workouts from college.  He would hold 80 lb dumbbells in each hand with feet together and jump on top of a 40 something inch tall box and repeat numerous times.  Dude is unbelievable.

Nope, never heard that one about him. 8) Maybe that's how he hurdled over a defender so easily last game. 8)

that would imply he should have at least a 60" vertical unloaded (BS)....   unless this is allowing him to land on the box knees tucked ... (which would still be damn impressive)    :o

His knees are tucked when he lands and yes it is damn impressive.

One of our local news stations aired footage of it too.
