I think it 's showing here tomorrow night or something...

A. I don't get it.

B.  Well that was 6 years I'll never get back.

I was going to ask how it went.  I feel like I missed out on a major pop culture event by not watching this show.

I won't gloat much other than saying that 3-4 years ago I warned you that it would end badly with no real sense of worth.

I'm pretty sure this thread was posted by someone who hacked Spacie's account.

It was a fine ending. No Patrick Duffy in the shower, no snow globe, no fade to black mid-sentence. I'm talking to a lot of people who loved it and thought it was the perfect ending and exactly what the series demanded. I am kind of feeling like I'm the only one who was underwhelmed.

Like I said, it was fine, but I was just left wishing for something more... surprising, I guess.

So help me out here.  So the entire show was about the fact that he was dead, and needed to realize it?

They insisted from early on the show was not a "purgatory".  Or were they lying?

I don't think it was the Jacob's Ladder ending. It was my impression that Jack died while saving the island at the very end. The island gave him the opportunity to create a location in which they could all be together when they died, whenever their times came, thus the reference to time not mattering in the place they all ended up at the end. They didn't all die at the same time, they just ended up in the same place after they did. One of the things that was disappointing to me is they never really explained what the island, in fact, was, other than saying they all needed it as much as it needed them.

Upon looking back I think the ending was solid but I kept hoping for more about the island as well. The series really became more about the characters over the past couple of years. I was always more intrigued about what the island was, why it was, etc..

I did enjoy the "moving on" concept that they did at the end however.

Ditto.  They had 5.5 *goshdarn* years for character development.   Tell me what the *fudge* the island is, where it came from, how it works, how the people got there, who built the temple, and who carved the *goshdarn* statue and why is everything Egyptian.  And how the hell does the frozen donkey wheel work.

Hate!
