Title: Hey, Stroh!
Post by: geo1 on December 30, 2010, 11:24:35 AM
Was wondering about all of the rainfall and flooding in CA.  Do know that the Coachella Valley can get hit by some big flooding.  Do you know if any of the golf courses in the area suffered any severe damage?  I know in the past, some courses lost greens and fairways - particularly those that were built in that wash.

Well........  None of the *feces* you see on t.v. really.

It did rain like hell for 5 days straight.  Weird.  But out here the only thing that happened (same as last year) is the wash fills up, runs like a river and washes out the same damn roads it does every time.

No real damage.  The only thing as far as course damage I know of, or have seen personally is Las Palmas which has four holes intentionally crossing the wash.  Never understood that.   [sm_scratch]  I haven't paid enough attention to see how they fix that or what they do.  Right now when you drive the bridge over it on Monterey all four fairways are one big sand hazard.  Looks deep too.  LOL

As far as other courses, I'll report back when I can.

I am surprised.  With lesser rainfall and not as much fire damage in the hills, there were several courses that suffered damage in years past.  One or two had to do major reconstruction, others just had to move all the silt that layered the fairways and greens.
