As someone who was sucked in during the first season and has seen every episode I applaud this decision.

IMO, last year sucked. The last few episodes this year have been good and I've actually started to look forward to them. I think without a set end point the filler crap and continual new questions got to be too much. At least in theory they should be able to focus on finishing the stories instead of trying to figure out how to limp it along season after season.

We'll see........

Excellent point.  Consider it done.

I've been a casual watcher over the last season (wifey's hooked). I have a hard time imagining how people who have been strung along this long, with little to no answers and a seemingly endless number of new questions, can be expected to maintain interest for 3 more years. Unless the writers have something really phenomenal up their sleeves, and pretty effin' quick, I'd expect the viewership to drop significantly before the end of the run. Good call to decide to wrap it up, but bad call (IMO) to take so long to do it.
