Title: All Right. Keep The Change. I Guess.
Post by: stroh on April 11, 2010, 05:48:10 PM
I don't care if you come to this Country.  The more the merrier.  It sucks where you are? Cool come live the 'Merkan dream.

I know I am.

This is now the third time I've bought something and been shorted on the change from the transaction.  This is going to sound trivial but in the long run it pisses me off, and I think it's important.

Here's the deal:  Years ago you could attribute it to "Today's ignorant youth" not knowing how to "count change"....... Now you can't even have that argument.  It *fudge*in' tells you right there on the screen what to give the customer.

Today was 11.83.  I get back 11 dollars and 3 quarters and a nickel.  Is 3 cents gonna change my life?  Of course not.  Happening 3 times "Noticeably " ?  It's starting to piss me off.

Oh, the only reason I bring immigration into it is; It's the common denominator.  This dude today didn't speak enough English to tell him to go *fudge* himself.  Fine.  I'm not one of those rednecks that says "Come here, speak the language!"  I could give a *feces* if you speak Klingon.  God knows a bunch of kooks in L.A. do.
I don't give a *feces*.  Again come here, you're welcome to be here in my view.  I'm sure it sucked worse where you came from.

But when it comes to commerce, you need to be capable.  Quit stealing my 3 cents with that puzzled look on your face thinking we'll all think it's ok that you can't figure it out.

Is it "Change your screen name" Sunday?

I had to check because this sounded like one of Aske's rants.
 ;D

That would actually be funny: Switch everyones screen name around, and see how long it takes to figure out who is who!

I'm curious if you were 'shortchanged' or 'overcharged'.

LMAO!  If there was an old woman in my way I would have pushed her ass down in a heartbeat.   ;D

They are.  I guess if you are arguing incompetence in counting change anywhere in the world as the fault of the person at the register I can accept that.

Did that once.  It was hilarious.  I was Aske for a day and he was stroh.  I had a Monster Truck as my avatar.  LOL  Good times.

Another time I was glique and gleek was streau.

Shortchanged.  3 times.  The pennies.  They stare at the register and then just give me "What's close". .80 instead of .83.  .60 instead of .64, etc.

Plenty of times back home the guy running the place would round it "up" to the next dime or nickel and figure his till out at the end of the night but that is not what's going on here.

Interesting. Just last week I had breakfast at an "El Rancho Steak House". My check came to $10.97 (Hey, it was steak and eggs.). I gave the cashier a ten and a one. Normally, I'd just walk off, but I looked down and saw that "leave a penny" thingy there. So I waited for my change, and when the cashier saw that I was going to be a cheapass and wait for the change, he handed me a nickel. I dropped the nickel in the "leave a penny" thingy and walked off. It's a wash.

Possible they don't have any pennies, or just don't want to open a  roll that they'll have to count in 30 minutes when they're 40 dollar shift ends.

That said, it WOULD be better if they gave you .85 cents instead of .83...

Maybe the cashier rounds up for alternating customers to keep the till as accurate as possible.  ;D

No.

Yeah.  I never would have wasted the bandwidth.  Or would have to praise them.  Either way.
