Title: Interesting...
Post by: twoiron on June 14, 2007, 08:14:03 PM
Japan is to get its first nursing home for dogs, with round-the-clock monitoring by doctors and a team of puppies to help ageing pooches feel younger. Owners will pay 98,000 yen ($A954) a month to keep their dogs at the Soladi Care Home for pets, which will open today in Tochigi, eastern Japan.

I guess in light of the recent ebay scam where unsuspecting Japanese were sold sheep that they thought were poodles... I guess anything is possible...

THREADJACK!

I was talking to a guy here at work who cooked ribeye steak FOR HIS DOG last weekend.  No, he didn't also cook a steak for himself or his family -- just the singleton for the dog.  Thoughts?

The dog does sleep on the bed, but I don't think there's even any spooning, if that helps you.

did the ribeye also contain the same meat as the filet?

Strange.  What did the rest of the family eat while the pooch was eating the steak?

I did read a sappy story about a guy spending his last days with his old dog before he had to put him to sleep.  They went to all their favorite hiking spots (but couldn't go very far) and he cooked a huge steak for his dog the night before the injection.  I'd hope to have that chance with my pooch.

What a maroon. Totally unnecessary. The great thing about dogs is that if you feed them something, anything, other than what they are used to being fed they think it's a great treat. Hell, if I hand feed Monte his own dog food he seems to think it's little bits of heaven. I don't think any creature who habitually and blissfully licks its own ass is really worthy of a ribeye anyway, except maybe Stroh.

Disclaimer: Laura has been known to give Monte a small bit of ground beef or something to spice up his regular dog food on occasion. I've tried to discourage the behavior, but I have little to no actual power in this household, and Monte's much cuter than I.

I assume that you don't leave the house much.

I feel sorry for the pups in the facility.  Dogs get so attached to their owners - it's a bit cruel to send them away to a convalescent home, especially when they're sick.  They won't understand why they're being punished like that.  :sad3:
